Senior Occupational Therapist


Contract Duration

This is a specific purpose contract - 1 WTE post (35 hours per week).

Responsible to/Report to:

The post holder shall be report to the Occupational Therapist Manager.


Working Relationships:

Liaise with all Medical, Nursing, Health & Social Care Professionals, Clerical/Administrative Staff, Service Users, External Persons and Organisations as required.


Qualifications:

The minimum approved academic qualifications for appointment as a Senior Occupational Therapist are one of the following:


  • The Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Occupational Therapy from NUI Galway, or the University of Dublin or University College Corkor
  • The Master of Science from the University of Limerickor
  • A Diploma from the College of Occupational Therapy,or
  • A recognised qualification at least equivalent to (1) or (2) or (3) which has been validated by the Department of Health as broadly equivalent to the above qualifications

:


  • Be registered, or be eligible for registration, on the Occupational Therapists Register maintained by the Occupational Therapists Registration Board at CORU.
  • Have three years full time (or an aggregrate of three years) post qualification clinical experience.
  • Have the requisite knowledge and ability (including a high standard of suitability and professional ability) for the proper discharge of the duties of the office.
  • Provide proof of Statutory Registration on the Occupational Therapists Register maintained by the Occupational Therapists Registration Board at CORUbefore a contract of employment can be issued.


General:

Demonstrate an understanding of the application of the core values of Marymount University Hospital & Hospice.

Main Duties & Responsibilities (Job Summary)

The Senior Occupational Therapist will work in conjunction with the Occupational Therapist Manager in ensuring the coordination, development and delivery of a quality, client-centred Occupational Therapy Service to meet the needs of the service user group and the objectives of the organisation. The Senior Occupational Therapist will be responsible for the provision of a high standard Occupational Therapy service in the Specialist Palliative Care Service and will carry out clinical and educational duties as assigned by the Occupational Therapist Manager. The successful candidate will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
