Opportunity Summary: The Operational Excellence System Leader role is designed to coach and guide the implementation of the Operational Excellence System (OES) which is a Lean Six Sigma deployment into the WestRock organization. This role is the direct conduit between the tactical/operational and strategic initiatives in the organization. This position requires a leader that can facilitate and drive change in a fast paced and “ever changing” environment leveraging his/her strong interpersonal and influencing skills.
How you will impact WestRock:
- Align with strategic objectives for the Division/Region/Plant and Execute OES to accomplish them.
- Responsible for the deployment and ongoing sustainment of the OES Pillar system across the division.
- Responsible for the training/coaching of Operational Excellence Leaders at the local plant level.
- Execute LSS projects to meet division savings goals.
- Focus on driving improvements in revenue and driving cost out of the business through more effective processes, elimination of non-value added or duplicate efforts, waste, and other related defects in the process.
- Perform education to pillar teams and steering committee.
- Train teams to utilize lean six sigma tools and methodology.
- Provide and share foundational best practices.
- Ensure alignment to the system across plants.
- Execute LSS Belt projects to deliver hard cost savings.
- Coach and assist plants in their Zero Loss Thinking and Analysis
- Ensure plants are prepared for the launch of the OES implementations.
- Perform audits and assessments for the evaluation of OE Coach and assist plants in their Zero Loss.
- Identify training needs/gaps prior to and during the implementation.
- Raising issues that need addressed.
- Coach/mentor belts and CI pillar teams to achieve savings goals.
- Execute LSS Projects to meet division savings objectives.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
What you need to succeed:
- 4-year college degree or equivalent manufacturing work experience required
- Minimum 5 years of manufacturing and/or Continuous Improvement experience
- Preferred similar experience in Lean Operating Systems
- Prefer leadership of deployment of Lean Operating Systems
- Operational Excellence System Pillar training provided
- Divisional Data system (Plant Floor, Radius, KIWI, AS 400, etc.) training provided
- Lean Six Sigma Project Library training provided
- Continuous Improvement or Lean Six Sigma experienced preferred. Yellow or Green Belt certification desired
- Coaching and communications skills
- Strong leadership abilities
- Professional maturity – work with all levels

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $85,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
