PARK AIDE (SEASONAL)
Job description
The Park Aide reporting location is Lake Perris State Recreation Area, 17801 Lake Perris Drive, Perris, CA 92571.
The Inland Empire District consists of Lake Perris State Recreation Area, Chino Hills State Park, California Citrus State Historic Park, Mount San Jacinto State Park, Silverwood Lake State Recreation Area, Providence Mountain State Park, San Timoteo Canyon State Park, and Wildwood Canyon State Park. The Natural Resources of all parks listed are managed by a Senior Environmental Scientist and/or Environmental Scientists within the Natural Resources Program.
The Park Aide works under the supervision of the Senior Environmental Scientist and receives direction from the District’s Environmental Scientists and other lead workers. The Park Aide’s primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to, completing tasks associated with resource management projects and resource maintenance including exotic plant species control, GPS mapping of project sites and rare and exotic species, prescribed fire, and revegetation. Park Aides will also operate and maintain small equipment, such as weed whips and chain saws. The Park Aide will be expected to work as part of a crew and, occasionally, independently once provided the necessary direction to complete a given task. The Park Aide will perform the duties dressed in full State Park uniform and follow the required grooming standards of the department. The uniform will be purchased by the Park Aide and will be in good condition at the start of the workday.
The Park Aide position may be required to work weekends and holidays. Evening and early morning shifts may be necessary for operational need. During peak season, this position may be required to work longer than 8 hours per day when requested, but typically not more than 40 hours a week.
This position is subject to live scan fingerprint clearance. This position is intermittent and may work up to 189 days in a 12-month period.
This position requires a valid California Class C Driver’s license.
