Job Summary:
Parking Enforcement Officer's primary responsibility is to ensure that drivers comply with local parking laws and ordinances and issue citations for violations.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

Essential:
  • (60%) Patrols assigned parking areas to issue parking citations for vehicles in violation of university parking regulations, including motorized bicycles. Collects and reports hourly occupancy data from the field. Completes a daily log of activity and citations/warnings issued and consistently submits the log to their supervisor at the end of the shift. Locates lost or stolen and counterfeit permits and takes necessary enforcement action.
  • (15%) Communicates regularly with students, staff, faculty, and visitors regarding parking rules and regulations and wayfinding. At times encounters potentially stressful situations including argumentative and frustrated individuals. This also includes the operation of a two-way radio as a method of communication. Performs front line/counter customer service duties for the Parking Office for Auxiliary Services. This includes greeting customers, assisting with driver application forms, parking refunds, wayfinding, etc.
  • (5%) Utilize the T2 Parking Flex Management System to enter handwritten citations, apply for payments, generate reports, sell permits, entry of data, quality assurance, investigation, record maintenance, information sharing, flagging vehicles with outstanding citations, etc.
  • (5%) Coordinates, schedules, monitors all aspects of the VPCar program. This is done through Outlook meeting requests. Provides keys and informs of users of policies and rules/regulation. Ensures that users are authorized drivers. Updates and communicates policy changes to users.
  • (12%) Coordinates and supports special parking arrangements in the field/office for other university departments' large events. These include Admissions, Career Center, etc. Enforces special parking restrictions for these events. Coordinates with Admissions to maintain the Prospective Student Parking Program this includes backup data entry, customer contact, permit assignments, general information sharing, etc.
  • (2%) Reports shuttle data to Parking Specialist and assist with fuel replenishment, basic maintenance, and cleaning. Responds to calls from shuttle drivers regarding problems encountered during the shift.
  • (1%) Backup for scheduling, authorizing and reserving Student Activity's vans for campus departments in 25Live.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education:
  • High School Diploma or GED required, or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Experience:
  • Demonstrate a track record of cultural sensitivity in collaborative settings.
  • Six months of parking lot operations or related experience; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and or education from which comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities have been achieved.
  • Possession of a current Colorado Driver License is required upon employment. At least six months of intermediate, administrative, computer experience including mobile apps, data entry, report generation, correspondence, etc.

Physical:
  • Works to repair or maintain parking lot equipment. This involves stooping, bending, keeling, reaching, etc.
  • Lifting & Carrying: Frequent moving of cones, barricades, signage and other parking equipment.
  • Body Positions: Walking and standing on the pavement for up to six hours and sitting in a vehicle for up to 8 hours.
  • Hearing - The ability to focus on a single source of auditory (hearing) information in the presence of other distracting sounds and identify and understand the speech of another person.
  • Vision - The ability to see details of objects at a close range (within a few feet of the observer) and see details at a distance.
  • Mobility - The ability to travel easily between campuses or buildings within each campus.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Working involves exposure to extreme temperatures, fumes and odors. Working year-round outdoors in varying weather conditions including rain, cold, and extreme heat.

Other Requirements:

Valid Colorado Driver License.

Ability to work with a diverse group of people and personalities and respond gracefully and respectfully in high-pressure situations.

Work Schedule: The shift is Monday - Friday, between 7:00 am to 8:00 pm and weekends as needed for special events.
