Art Teacher Opening (Part-time): 2023-24 School Year

May Center for Learning (www.maycenter.org) is excited to announce a part-time art teaching position opening for a candidate passionate about working with students with learning differences. With small class sizes (8 students or less), excellent professional development, kind and supportive colleagues, teaching at the May Center is a highly positive experience. May Center for Learning is a recognized leader in the state of New Mexico and beyond for its intervention programs for students with learning differences.

May Center for Learning is located in beautiful and historic Santa Fe, New Mexico, an artistic mecca surrounded by mountains, mesas and hot springs offering unparalleled access to the outdoors for recreation, sport and rejuvenation.

Responsibilities:

• Develop lesson plans, independent learning exercises, curricula, and methods that cater to the needs of the individual child while they learn
• Support in maintaining a safe, clean, stimulating classroom where all children feel safe and valued.
• Communicate effectively with parents by completing a section of tri-mester progress reports for each student.
• Participate in pedagogy and faculty meetings required of all May Center faculty members.
• Provide an environment that teaches respect, compassion, and responsibility for all members of the May Center community.
• Embody May Center for Learning’s guiding LEAP values: Leadership, Empowerment, Advocacy and Principles.

The ideal candidate’s qualifications will include:

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Education, or a related field
• 3+ years teaching experience K-8
• Experience working with children with language-based learning differences

Salary Range: $12,000-14,500
