Job description
Reporting to the Reader Services Manager, the Library Assistant is a student-facing teaching and instructional role based in the DBS Academic Information & Resource Centre. The post holder will develop and deliver a variety of instructional offerings to support Reference & Circulation Services. The ideal candidate will be forward-thinking, flexible, outcome-focused, and responsive to faculty and student needs. They will contribute to existing services while helping to identify and develop new opportunities and collaborations. The successful candidate will work both in the physical library and online as required.
Responsibilities

Providing excellent Reference services both on-campus and remotely

Providing Circulation services including managing library accounts, processing payments, maintaining statistics, shelving, stocktaking, etc.

Assisting students, faculty, and staff with their queries

Producing and maintaining relevant guides, literature, webpages and Moodle content
-
Assisting the Information Literacy Team with Digital Literacy sessions as required, including student inductions.

Communicating with relevant stakeholders regarding service changes and enhancements

Promoting the library services via social media

Complete any other tasks as requested by the Library Leadership Team
Required

Strong IT skills to support student success in a hybrid learning environment

Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills

Availability to work evening shifts and weekend hours as required
