POSITION OVERVIEW

This position serves as a designated Passport Acceptance Agent in accordance with US Department of State guidelines and is responsible for risk management in regards to the prevention of the issuance of fraudulent passports. Incumbent is responsible for careful review and intake of documents, forms, identity verification and proof of US Citizenship related to completing passport applications ensuring compliance with Department of State regulations. Incumbent operates camera equipment for photo services and also handles cash, performs credit transactions, deposits, reviews daily balances, and participates in Passport department projects as needed.

NOTE: Salary placement is determined by the top candidate’s overall qualifications/relevant experience, market data, and internal equity.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma / or equivalent experience/training.

  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Strong customer service skills with experience in a busy, service-oriented office atmosphere with frequent interruptions, varied work assignments, and fluctuating priorities while meeting deadlines.

  • Proficiency in the use of spreadsheet and database software.

  • Cash handling and/or sales experience with the ability to accurately record transactions.

  • Ability to audit ledgers for appropriateness of expenses and make sound recommendations for resolutions

  • Proven ability to understand the information provided in organization meetings, to effectively record and communicate the information to appropriate staff, and apply the information to project operations.

PREFERRED

Working knowledge or experience working as a U.S. Passport Agent.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS

  • Job offer contingent on DOJ/FBI Background Check clearance
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen - Federal Regulations require all new or replacement passport applications to be processed by an Acceptance Agent who is also an U.S. Citizen.
  • Must pass the Passport Agent certification within probationary period.
  • Overtime may be required during peak periods.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $40,700 - $78,258 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $19.49 - $37.48

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
