The Opportunity

As a member of the People Communications and Experience team, you’ll help bring to life our team’s goal to shape the employer brand and professional experience by informing, inspiring and engaging professionals through impactful internal communications.

Reporting to the People Experience Communications Manager, the Communications Strategist is a critical member of the team who has the opportunity to serve as a strategic business partner responsible for developing and executing comprehensive communications strategies at the market sector, operational and all company level in support of Black & Veatch’s Employee Value Proposition.

The Team

As part of BV Business Enablement, you will be part of the critical and forward-thinking group that enables our people, projects, and businesses to be as successful as possible by providing creative solutions. Functions in this group include CIO/Global Information Technology, Diode, ESH&S, Finance, Human Resources, Legal, Risk Management, and Government Affairs and Real Estate and Building Services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the creation, planning and implementation of strategic communications plans across a portfolio of internal functions while measuring impact and effectiveness
  • Create engaging content that connects our employee-owners to strategic priorities and one another – including leadership/executive communications, people features, organizational updates, change management initiatives, town hall content, presentations and more
  • Build and manage internal client relationships and serve as a trusted advisor and strategic partner for communications and engagement related matters
  • Collaborate with peers across the sectors to ensure consistency in communications approaches
  • Write, proofread and edit communications materials, ensuring consistency of tone and adherence to brand and standards
  • Assist in developing and disseminating companywide content on various channels
  • Ability to create quick turnaround content deliverables as well as long-term projects involving collaboration with other internal clients across the organization
  • Solid organizational and project management skills with the ability to prioritize and manage expectations across multiple, complex projects / priorities
  • Partner with the video and graphic design teams to coordinate supporting assets through production

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced storyteller who enjoys engaging others through words and visuals.
  • Advanced written, editorial and verbal communications skills with a demonstrated understanding of AP Style
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and SharePoint Online
  • Demonstrated experience using both traditional and emerging platforms to reach and engage various audience segments
  • Ability to respond to quickly changing conditions with agility and innovation
  • Proactive problem solver
  • Advanced knowledge of internal communications concepts
  • Strong multi-tasking skills and attention to detail
  • Interpersonal and networking skills
  • Proven ability to track, measure and analyze results

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, communication, or a related field; or equivalent experience
  • 4+ years related experience
