Organization Description: Vecinos is a non-profit, 501(c)3 Free Clinic that provides bilingual integrated primary and mental health care, mobile clinic services, health education, and case management to uninsured, low-income adults in the far-western NC counties. We offer a positive, supportive, and team-oriented atmosphere. We work in a non-traditional environment with limited resources. Schedules and hours vary throughout the year.

Purpose: The Pharmacist provides pharmacy services to patients/medical practitioners. Receives, fills prescriptions, dispenses pharmaceuticals, consults with clients regarding the nature and use of drugs, and trains and/or supervises personnel. Performs routine quality control testing procedures; prepares and maintains all necessary records required by federal, state, and local regulations.

Job Responsibilities
● Reviews, prepares, and/or oversees the preparation and dispensing of pharmaceuticals to patients or medical practitioners; makes decisions regarding generic substitution of prescribed pharmaceuticals

● Consults with patients and/or medical practitioners on drug indications/contraindications, dosage, drug interactions, and side effects; provides other drug and pharmaceutical information as appropriate

● Provides education, guidance, and training to students, pharmacy interns, and or trainees during course of work and monitors performance

● Performs routine quality control testing of equipment, environment, and record keeping as required by federal, state and local regulations

● Follows established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives, continuous quality improvement objectives, and safety, environmental, and/or infection control standards

Required Qualifications
● Doctor of Pharmacy
● At least 6 months of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified
● Certification/Licensure State of North Carolina Licensed Pharmacist
● Cultural sensitivity, a caring and confident demeanor, flexibility, dependability, professional attitude and desire to serve uninsured/underserved populations

Preferred Qualifications
● Native, or near-native English/Spanish fluency
● At least 2 years’ experience in an integrated care setting
● Willing to participate in outreach events in surrounding counties, as needed
● Working knowledge of farmworker-specific medicine
