Job Summary

The Dharap laboratory in the Department of Molecular Medicine and Byrd Alzheimer’s Center at the University of South Florida has a postdoctoral position available to study RNA biology, transcriptomics, and chromatin biology in stroke and vascular dementia. We seek a self-motivated and creative individual who is proficient in molecular biology, biochemistry, and cell biology. A background in RNA biology and epigenetics wet lab research is required, and experience with rodent models of brain injury/disease is a big plus, but not required. We are an NIH-funded lab with a stimulating and supportive scientific environment and modern facilities and instrumentation. We use rodent experimental models, mammalian cell culture, and techniques such as deep sequencing, real-time PCR, reporter assays, immunoblotting, IHC/ICC, RIP, ChIP, FISH, gene knockdown, and bioinformatics. QUALIFICATIONS (Education & Experience):

Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must hold a Ph.D. or MD. Ph.D. in a related field from an accredited institution and appropriate experience and training within a selected area of specialization. Must meet university criteria for appointment at the rank of Postdoctoral Fellow.

Preferred Qualifications:

A background in RNA biology, chromatin biology, or epigenetics will be given the highest preference. Proficiency in molecular biology and biochemistry is required. Experience with rodent models of brain injury/disease is a plus, but not required.
