Job Description

As an Application Consultant resource you will engage with domain experts, sales, specialty sellers and customers presale to lead delivery engagements and better understand scope requirements. You will be the proposal team's subject matter expert for the customer, sales organization, and Business Unit and leads engagement requirements of related products and comprehensive delivery offerings from RA, partners, and competitors in designated focus areas. You will report directly to the Application Consulting Manager. This is a remote position and you can sit anywhere in the United States.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Lead scope definition, articulate differentiators and values versus competition for designated product, service or solution
  • Knowledge of the industry strategies, familiarity with outcome-based selling.
  • Understand the business drivers and KPI's of the customer.
  • You will collaborate with Sales, Solution / Technical Consultants / Specialists, Delivery / Engineering, Services, and your peer proposal teams regional/global to assess and respond to IT/OT, engineering, consulting, project and support services opportunities
  • Understand the customers need and be able to position and quote a desired outcome for a solution
  • You will advise sales and managing of the process from: Information gathering, Scope definition, Solution design, bid request, and costing, and approvals. presenting the proposal to executive level customers and winning the order.
  • Demonstrate the ability to expand the scope of solutions requested by incorporating the full portfolio of Rockwell Automation offerings, including: Connected Services, Process/Power & Control/Information Solutions, Packaged Power, and local Field Labor.
  • You will work with Global estimating tools and Global Engineering Center Proposal resources
  • Share insights with regional and global peers.
  • Understand business models, organization, and go to market strategy, leverage where appropriate
  • Knowledge of industry strategies, familiarity with outcome-based selling.
  • Provide security in a stable work environment, allowing individual to plan for, focus on and complete tasks on hand
  • When changes in the nature of the work occur, you will receive direction, training and support

The Essentials - You Will Have:

  • You have a Bachelor's Degree for this position
  • You have legal authorization to work in the U.S. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening
  • You may travelup to 25% of the time

The Preferred - You Might Also Have:

  • We ask you to have a Bachelor's degree in an engineering/technical related field or equivalent.
  • We also ask that you have 5+ years as an automation engineer with:
    • Industry knowledge preferably in: Pulp & Paper, Chemical, Minin & Cement, or Life Sciences
    • Application Knowledge preferably in: Process, Batch, Power System Controls, and Industrial Building Automation Systems
    • Pre-sales, direct sales or consulting experience as an estimator, proposal engineer or other contract, project or application engineering focused position
  • You should have a strong understanding of larger Rockwell Automation's products, how to apply them and the value they bring to the customer. This PLC's / Controllers, Variable Speed Drives, Motor Control Centers, Software, Networks and ideally good knowledge of third-party products
  • You will wlork with and gain confidence of senior level personnel (internal and external) in a collaborative, matrixed organization.
  • Strong supporter of our customer centricity. Understand the importance of demonstrating concern for satisfying customers.
  • Passionate about developing goals to improve our customer experience.

This position is part of a job family. Experience will be the determining factor for the job level and compensation.

The base salary compensation range for this role in California, Colorado and New York, and Washington is $97,600.00 - 146,000.00 with an annual target bonus of 5% of base salary.
