Job description
The Production Supervisor directly supervises hourly employees on the second shift. Responsible for safety, production, quality and adherence to company policies and procedures.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develops and leads a cross functional/departmental team to take on day-to-day operational issues and reach short- and long-term performance goals
- Builds people capability through effective employee relations, hiring, training, and communication for hourly personnel
- Motivates team members to achieve plan goals by having a regular presence on the plant floor
- Manage employee relations issues and communicate with the second shift union steward
- Communicate and follow through with Operations Managers, 1stShift Value Stream Managers and Human Resources Manager
- Sets and achieves performance standards with regards to safety, productivity and quality
Job Requirements:
BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Manufacturing experience preferably in mechanical products
- Understanding / experience in Lean Manufacturing
- Demonstrated ability to deescalate conflict in a union environment
- Strong understanding of machining techniques
- Team-building and strong interpersonal skills
- Strong computer and problem-solving skills

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS
- Past work experience in with mechanical products and a strong understanding of machining techniques
- Experience with SAP or another Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system
