Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:
The Adolescent Health Education Specialist / Intern Program Coordinator is primarily responsible for providing adolescent sexual health education in family planning, birth control methods, STI prevention, HIV/AIDS education, consent, body image, sexual orientation, and other areas as indicated. Provides and coordinates outreach to the student body about teen friendly clinics. As the Teen Clinic Adolescent Sexual Health Intern Program Coordinator, primary responsibilities focus on working with the Department Director and Clinical Access Coordinator to develop the intern program manual, standard operating procedures, and provide oversight of the intern selection process. The Intern Program Coordinator works with selected interns to provide mentorship and guidance in meeting set expectations of tasks assigned as well as opportunities for professional develop and promoting youth as partners to increase awareness, utilization of Teen Clinic Services and over-all improved patient experience.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conducts education classes on healthy relationships, reproduction, methods of birth control, and other varied subjects to a variety of audiences- teens, parents, and other organizations.
- Comfortably teaches sexual health education topics in a culturally and age-appropriate manner.
- Provides accurate sexual health information, while maintaining curriculum integrity.
- Conducts outreach activities with Oklahoma City Public Schools and school districts within Oklahoma County.
- Works early mornings and occasionally work some evenings and weekends.
- Memorizes large amounts of information, procedures, and rules given both verbally and in writing, to accurately perform the required tasks.
- Develops partnerships with neighboring agencies to provide workshops and/or expertise in the field of adolescent health, sexuality, and wellness.
- Assists in the development of an Adolescent Sexual Health paid Intern Program for no more than 10 interns ages 16-21.
- Coordinates and oversees the activities and responsibilities of Adolescent Sexual Health Interns.
- Assists in the development of standard operating procedures for the Adolescent Sexual Health Intern Program.
- Assist Interns with locating transportation, managing their schedule to complete expectations as interns, provide medically accurate sexual health trainings for interns, and mentor interns as youth-partners and professionals in clinical and classroom setting.
- Attends meetings and collaborates with staff, parents, volunteers, and community residents as needed to assist in curriculum and program delivery as well as promotion and development.
- Participates in training and staff development workshops.
- Completes documents for assessment and evaluation for the program, participants, and parents.
- Works closely with other members of the program team to effectively function as a cohesive unit.

Requirements, Special Skills or Knowledge:
- Bachelors in related field with five years of experience working Adolescent Sexual Health Education and Clinical Services or master’s degree plus one year of related experience.
- Experience working with at-risk youth.
- Experience working in a fast-paced classroom environment.
- Experience in communicating verbally and in writing with diverse groups.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish).
- Experience in computer programs, specifically Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Teams, E-Clinical Works, EPIC, Power Point, Google Docs and managing connectivity to the internet with a hotspot.
- Experience using an overhead and portable projector, adaptable microphone.
- Possess a Valid driver’s license.
- Must be willing to become CHES Certified within the first year of employment if applicable.
Preferred Requirements, Special Skills or Knowledge:
- Master’s degree in social work, Public Health, Sociology, Psychology, or Community Health or related field.
- Teaching experience.
- Health education experience.
- CHES Certification.
- Experience in program development.
ADA Requirements:
Must be able to lift 25 pounds.
Able to sit for long periods of time.
Able to drive between and to all satellite centers upon notice or need.
