- Salary is in the pay grade E17 on the Exempt
SAISD Compensation Plan.
- Entry salary is at $69,460.00 with consideration
for directly related experience.

Position Summary
Responsible for coordinating, implementing, and monitoring effective dual language, early exit, and ESL programs
that results in improved classroom and site practices to increase student learning performance and growth. Plans,
coordinates, and delivers professional learning opportunities for staff that reflect data needs. Provide leadership
in developing and implementing the district’s bilingual program. Collaborate with key campus staff to provide
coaching and modeling of best practices to meet the needs of ELL learners.
Essential Functions / Key Responsibilities
1. Implement procedures and coordinate the process to identify bilingual students at all grade levels district-
wide, including review of student data and testing of students.
2. Develop bilingual and English-as-a-second language (ESL) curricular documents and instructional support
materials. Provide resources and materials to support staff in accomplishing program goals.
3. Work with other curriculum coordinators to establish and maintain challenging academic standards that
will ensure that students learn English as well as content information and exit the bilingual/ESL programs
within established timeframes.
4. Consult with teachers to develop and provide bilingual students with appropriate course work thr ough
curriculum modification and acceleration.
5. Observe classroom instruction and provide feedback and assistance to classroom teachers to facilitate
improvement and innovation. Demonstrate teaching strategies with students in the classroom.
6. Plan and provide staff development including sessions on methods for identifying and instructing bilingual
students and enriched learning.

7. Plan and conduct parent meetings. Consult with parents, administrators, counselors, teachers, community
agencies, and other relevant individuals regarding bilingual students.
8. Evaluate the bilingual program effectiveness based on evaluative findings (including student achievement
data) and recommend changes as need.
9. Perform other related duties as assigned within the appropriate skill and experience capabilities expected
for this position.
Minimum Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university or 4 years equivalent experience.
- Valid Texas Teaching certificate with endorsement in Bilingual education or ESL.
- 5+ years of related experience to include:
o 3 years as a Bilingual and/or ESL teacher.
o Experience developing/implementing staff development.
- Candidate must have satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting background check. Non-refundable fee
(approximately $50.00) paid by the employee
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
• Knowledge of Dual Language/Early Exit/ESL.
- Knowledge of curriculum and instruction.
- Knowledge of strategies and materials for the education of bilingual students.
- Knowledge of Spanish language arts and biliteracy.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret policy, procedures, and data.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with bilingual parents and students.
- Comprehensive knowledge of the adult-learning process.
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Working Conditions
Work Environment:
- Computer, computer software programs and peripherals, teacher resource materials and
equipment, copier, fax, and other equipment applicable to position.
- Frequent exposure to: temperature extremes (hot and cold), humidity extremes, noise. Occasional
exposure to: biological hazards (communicable diseases, bacteria, insects, mold, fungi, etc.
Physical Demands/Requirements:
- Maintain emotional control under stress; work with frequent interruptions/deadlines; frequent sitting,
standing, walking, climbing, balancing, pulling and pushing; reaching, repetitive hand motions, hearing,
speaking clearly, visual acuity and prolonged data input; occasional lift/carry light, moderate 15-44 pounds.
