Duties
Brief Description of Duties:
- Manages and oversees the development of the staff/student visitor program which includes serving as agency liaison and field instructor to participating schools of social work at local universities; meets with university field placement offices and staff; determines appropriate case assignments; conducts occasional home and facility visits in the field; conducts weekly case conferences and biweekly peer group supervision; evaluates staff and student performance annually, semi-annually, and quarterly; and provides general feedback and support.
- Directly supervises work performance and activities of Deputy Program Manager, Social Work Case Managers, a Deputy Clerk, and social work student interns.
- Evaluates program needs to ensure program productivity and efficiency in achieving programmatic goals.
- Researches technical, clinical practice and national practice standards to ensure program remains current on case management, social work investigative techniques, and service delivery.
- Regularly review and respond to court guardianship reports and other documents in compliance with time standards.
- Collaborates with local government offices, community agencies, and nursing or assisted living facilities. Consults with other court employees, members of the public, attorneys, family members, service providers and university personnel to gather information and develop consensus.
- Represents the Probate Division at internal and external meetings or forums.
- Works closely with appropriate court officials to identify significant duties required by the program and develops or revises administrative program procedures.
- Organizes training events including annual education conference and monthly orientation classes.
- Communicates orally and in writing the program’s activities on monthly program reports, in weekly management team meetings, and on annual reports.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: A valid Licensed Independent Clinical Social Work License (LICSW) from the DC Board of Social Work plus three (3) years of experience in the social work field exercising independent case judgment. Experience must include at least two (2) years of experience managing employees in a public service agency, court system or legal environment.
Proof of license and documentation of education (copy of college transcript or degree) must be submitted with your application or your application will not be considered.
Graduation from the Courts’ Management Training Program may substitute for one (1) year of supervisory experience (You must provide documentation of your management training (i.e. copy of certificate) with your application.

After three years of service this increases to six (6)hours biweekly, and at 15 years it increases to eight(8)hours biweekly. Most military, federal and District of Columbia government service counts toward the time required to go into the next higher annual leave category. Employees can carry over no more than 240 hours of annual leave into the next leave year.
Sick Leave is used for personal medical needs, care of a family member, or adoption related purposes. Full-time employees earn four(4)hours of sick leave biweekly. This leave can be accrued without limit.In addition to the federal health plans, the DC Courts offer employees supplemental vision and dental plans as well as a commuter transit benefit subsidy, for a maximum of $150 a month. There are 26 pay periods in the year.
