Job Overview

The Drills Programmer / Electrical Controls Engineer at Komatsu Mining will be responsible for Electrical Controls System and Software design on the Komatsu Blasthole and Rotary Drill New Product Development Team.

Job Responsibilities

The Drills Programmer / Electrical Controls Engineer will be directly involved in the technical specification, hardware selection, integration, programming and testing of control systems on Komatsu Rotary and Down the Hole Hammer Blasthole Drill Rigs. Seeking an experienced individual that understands the product design lifecycle, software development/maintenance and the critical characteristics of reliable and user-friendly product design.

• Collaborating in a small team environment with a high level of autonomy and freedom to pursue creative design ideas.
• Continual expanding of one’s knowledge base since our team integrates advanced and emerging technologies.
• Travel will be required to troubleshoot machine issues and support customers in the field. Travel could potentially be 40% both International and Domestic.

Qualifications/Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Controls Engineering preferred, or equivalent field work and/or experience can also be considered
• 2+ years experience in system integration involving controls programming
• 1+ years of PLC and HMI programming experience on heavy industrial or mobile equipment

Other Potential Skills / Experience / Qualifications

• Experience with control architecture design using IEC 61131-3 programming languages. (Experience with ABB Control Builder, Danfoss Plus+1 Guide, or National Instruments Lincs a plus)
• Field experience with on-site customer implementation (installation / commissioning / troubleshooting / support)
• Previous experience in various communication protocols (RS232/422/485, TCP/IP, CANOpen, J1939, ProfiBus/ProfiNet, EtherCAT, etc.)
• Electrical schematics experience (AutoCAD Electrical experience preferred)
• Prior experience using 3D routing and assembly drawings (SolidWorks experience preferred)
