We currently have an opportunity to join our team of talented and diverse Faculty and Staff as a Purchasing Specialist.


Required Qualifications: This position requires an Associate’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management/Purchasing, Accounting, or a related field. This position also requires at least one (1) year of related experience.


This is a full-time, non-exempt position with an hourly rate of $16.11 with an approximate annual amount of $33,500.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Processes Purchase Requisitions (PRs) into Purchase Orders (POs). Ensure compliance with College Policy Procedures and State/Federal Guidelines.
  • Assists Departments with purchasing research and preparation of purchase requisitions.
  • Interacts with the College's individual department and as a whole to assist with and provide guidance in procurement issues, accounting code assignment, inventory control invoice payments and other issues as required.
  • Prepares specifications for Requests for Quotes (RFQ). Provides assistance when needed with the coordination of competitive solicitation process to include public openings and evaluations.
  • Interacts with supplier representatives to obtain product or service information for current or future purchase requirements.
  • Provides backup assistance to the Business Services Staff Assistant.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

The successful candidate must have knowledge of accounting principles as they relate to procurement and the maintenance of documents and records; knowledge of the administrative principles and practices involved related to public college purchasing department. The candidate must have the ability to express factual information clearly and concisely, orally and in writing. Candidate must also have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with suppliers, associates, department officials and the general public and the ability to use current technologies to perform essential job functions. Experience in PeopleSoft Purchasing modules desired and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite required.
