The Product Operations team is currently seeking to appoint a multifaceted and self motivated individual to work in the EMEIA Manufacturing Engineering team to support our Research and Development programs. This position is responsible for developing pioneering manufacturing process and equipment for innovative new technologies in collaboration with Product Design teams based in Cupertino. The role will also involve design, development and manufacture of mechanical aspects of prototype systems. The successful candidate will also drive quality and process improvements across all activities performed within Cork manufacturing and EMEIA locations.This includes working with in-region functions; Production, Test, Quality, and US based support teams; Advanced Manufacturing Engineering and Technical Product Management, to provide engineering solutions to optimise our manufacturing processes. You will work out of Apple's EMEIA Headquarters in Cork. Key Qualifications

  • Experience in process and equipment design, development and implementation
  • Experience in fixture development with skills in 3D Computer Aided Design packages, SolidWorks, Siemens NX, Creo, or similar
  • Ability to identify, initiate and drive continuous improvement throughout the business
  • Excellent analytical, data analysis and problem solving skills
  • Strong sense of urgency and customer focused with experience working to strict timelines
  • Flexible and capable of working on own initiative with a professional attitude and excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Capable of developing strong working relationships with Apple, Vendor, and Sub-Contractor engineering teams
  • Exposure to high technology manufacturing in a fast paced dynamic environment
  • Exposure to lean principles, 5S, six sigma, standard work, and industrial engineering methodologies is an advantage
  • Exposure to automation / equipment design is an advantage

Description

- Multi-functional role working with experts in different domains, including Marketing, HI, Product Design, System Architects, Vision/Neuroscience, Algorithms, Calibration Architects, System EE, and Reliability teams. - Process design and prototype development with primary focus on mechanical assembly - Focus on design for manufacturability / design for assembly. - Analysing complex challenges around mechanical design, fit & function. Developing solutions - Development of prototype manufacturing processes and equipment - Design, commissioning and qualification of semi-automated and automated assembly fixtures - Design, manufacture and assembly of prototype solutions both internally and with external vendors - Support several high profile projects simultaneously - Provide engineering support in Apple’s manufacturing locations within EMEIA - Travel will be required in support of this role

Education & Experience

- B.Eng (Hons) NFQ Level 8 / M.Eng NFQ Level 9 in Mechanical/Biomedical/Mechatronics/Electronic/Process Engineering or equivalent qualification with appropriate industrial experience - Experience in R&D, mechanical design, process development / design engineering / advanced manufacturing engineering or related discipline
