JOB SUMMARY:
There are a need in the seven (7) target areas to advise low-income residents of available services and resources to improve their social and economic status. The Area Director is responsible for the planning, operation, and maintenance of the center program in the assigned target area including service delivery, community organization, and working with other agencies and resources to deal with problems in the target area.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Responsible for the overall operation of a district center, staff supervision, neighborhood organization, and service-related problems at the area and neighborhood level.
  • Responsible for overseeing the maintenance of equipment to include the proper use of computers, the internet, furniture, building, and grounds.
  • Compiles information monthly on problem areas identified, referrals made and referrals with positive results. Responsible for all client services entered the agency database in a timely manner.
  • Responsible for the security of confidential information as it relates to personnel matters,
  • residents and clients.
  • Compiles a data bank of local referral sources for the area. Updates the information every six (6) months. Attends monthly networking meetings (REACH). Works with other social service agencies and private groups to develop resources.
  • Attends a minimum of two (2) neighborhood meetings monthly. Provides agency information to neighborhood groups. Participates in the National Night Out activities in the area.
  • Responsible for the overall development and implementation of the center’s Management by Objectives (MBO) plan.
  • Works with area representatives to the CAA Board of Directors and other Boards, Committees, and Commissions to improve the effectiveness of their participation.
  • Prepares and submits reports in a timely manner. Ensures that all client services are entered into the CAPTAIN database and the six (6) national Results Oriented Management Accountability (ROMA) Goals are being met. Ensures client files contain the required current documentation.
  • Trains staff in all areas of the district center operations to ensure they are knowledgeable of program rules and regulations.
  • Performs other related duties as required, requested, or assigned.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • Conduct work in a moderate to heavy paced environment with various personality types.
  • Possess the stamina to remain on feet or be seated for periods if two hours without discomfort or excessive fatigue.
  • Possess positive communication skills in working with staff and clients.
  • Be able to stoop, kneel, crouch, and reach.
  • May lift and carry general office supplies and equipment, typically weighing less than 45 pounds.
  • Local travel to meetings and site visits.
  • Environmental demands include an air-conditioned building with fluorescent lighting, moderate exposure to weather conditions.
  • Some employees may be occupationally exposed to potential infectious airborne/bloodborne pathogens and other materials based on tasks and procedures required.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
  • Bachelor's Degree, preferably in Social Services, or four (4) years experience in a Social Service Delivery System will offset education requirements.
  • One (1) year experience in supervision or management desired.
  • Must have transportation available and a valid Oklahoma driver's license.
  • Must be willing to work irregular hours.
  • Personal qualities:

  • Must have the ability to speak effectively before groups and make public presentations.
  • Must possess a high degree of sound judgment, initiative, resourcefulness, and a high sense of loyalty, integrity, and dependability.
  • Must have the ability to supervise staff and develop and implement Agency programs.
  • Must have a sympathetic understanding of people, their needs and problems, and knowledge of human relations and motivations.
  • Must have the capacity for independent thinking and the ability to plan time wisely.
  • Must have exceptional energy and drive.
DESIRED:
Some study at a graduate level, with coursework in Community Development and organization, sociology, psychology, political science, and personnel supervision and management.
Supervisory or managerial experience involving responsibility for the organization, direction, operation, and administration of a group of eight (8) or more employees including at least six (6) months experience in supervision and/or management in a social service delivery system.
SUPERVISION:
Reports to: Director, Community Services
Supervises: Community Specialist, Couriers, and other assigned staff.
Coordinates with:
Other CAP components or agencies dealing with poverty to provide a service delivery system designed to meet the needs of the poor and avoid duplication of services; Fiscal/Planning Division, Volunteer Services, Public Information and Personnel Departments on departmental related needs.
