Summary

The Kumsta Lab is looking for a Research Assistant will contribute to the completion of diverse tasks, laboratory procedures, practices and protocols under specific direction. The Research Assistant will work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment performing a variety of laboratory tasks, including the preparation of laboratory supplies and equipment (autoclaving, media/buffer preparations), maintains and stocks laboratory inventories, and performs experiments including analyzing data and providing basic interpretation. Will need to maintain and operate standard lab equipment.

Primary Responsibilities

• Work with the PI or a lab member to plan project experiments
• Provide data interpretation and analysis of results
• Perform data entry and use laboratory software applications
• Troubleshoot problems and develop solutions to technical problems
• Accurately document and record all experiments in lab notebooks and electronic data systems
• Maintain various reagent collections and inventories
• Assist with lab organization and maintenance
• Operate specialized equipment requiring a moderate degree of skill
• Follow all appropriate safety protocols and take an active role in the safely culture of the laboratory

Required Experience

• BS/BA degree in one of the biological sciences, or chemistry.
• Applicable lab experience.
• Familiarity with standard protocols
• Proof of COVID-19 vaccination is required

Compensation:
The rate range for this position is $16.30 - $18.00/hour commensurate with experience.
