Research Assistant I or II in Immunology

General Information
Full time position available immediately in the laboratory of Dr. Hui Hu at the University of Alabama at Birmingham for a Research Assistant interested in Immunology. We investigate the molecular and biological mechanisms that integrate innate immunity signaling and adaptive immune responses in infectious diseases, allergy, autoimmune diseases and cancer.

Job Description
Under general supervision, performs a variety of scientific tasks that are well defined. Performs routine to complex calculations as needed by the Principle Investigator. Procedures and criteria are applied using varying levels of technical complexity. Instructions are detailed and specific as to protocols used and results expected. Data is collected, recorded and organized using standard methodology.

Position is a full-time position located within Microbiology working 40 hours a week. The ideal candidate will perform a wide variety of moderately complex laboratory tasks and animal experiments. Maintains lab equipment and inventory levels of supplies. The lab will provide the successful candidate with the opportunity to learn cellular and molecular techniques including culture of primary lymphocytes and established cell lines, flow cytometry, cloning, cDNA expression, RNAi manipulation and biochemical analyses. Assisting with and/or performing technical animal procedures are required.

Salary
Salary commensurate with experience.

Minimum Requirements
Bachelor's degree in a related field upon starting the position.
