We are an agile and people-centred team with a commitment to research excellence, critical thinking, creativity and empowerment.

About The

As a Research Lead in the Human Sciences Studio you will be driving a full portfolio of research and engagement broadly linked to the Trustworthy Technology theme, which looks at the circumstances within which people will reject or accept new technology in their lives, or new use cases of existing technology in their lives. In line with Accenture’s commitment to delivering shared success for all broader stakeholders in innovation, your work will seek to deliver value for our clients and Accenture, people and society. We are especially interested in people who have significant experience of using ethical thinking and practice in the development of new products or services, or in the transmission of ethical thinking and practice in education or workplace environments.

As a Research Lead, you will:

  • Frame, lead and evaluate a full portfolio of research to answer questions that are relevant to senior decision makers, demonstrating originality and relevance in your research ideas and approaches

  • Lead and manage researchers as they conduct, document, analyze and summarize secondary research, using an array of sources from business, media and academia. In addition to guiding researchers on the above, where it is appropriate, you will also act as a researcher yourself, doing the above independently

  • Lead and manage primary qualitative and/or quantitative research to answer client-relevant questions, by applying classic methods (such as interviews, surveys and workshops) in new and innovative ways. In addition to guiding researchers on the above, where it is appropriate, you will also act as a researcher yourself, doing the above independently

  • Work with colleagues across the team to drive the development of innovative and immersive research experiences

  • Guide researchers to synthesize, compile and present research findings (in both verbal and written format), in a way that demonstrates both academic rigor and business relevance to Accenture and our clients. In addition to guiding researchers on the above, where it is appropriate, you will also act as a researcher yourself, doing the above independently.

  • Actively collaborate with teammates in Human Sciences Studio and across The Dock

  • Work with other colleagues to drive research collaborations across Accenture and outside The Dock.

  • Support researchers in a continuous way as they develop their skills and profile.

  • Use high-quality thinking to identify and prioritize research opportunities.

Set yourself apart by demonstrating a comprehensive mix of hard and soft skills including:

  • Significant experience in and understanding of issues such as ethics, responsible innovation and trust as an issue across organizations, public policy, and civil society

  • Demonstrated ability to conduct advanced primary and secondary research, using quantitative and/or qualitative research methods

  • Demonstrated ability to synthesize fragmented information from multiple sources into a coherent summary, and to develop structured communications

  • Demonstrated ability to apply social science research in a business-relevant context

  • Track record of designing and managing research initiatives from start to finish

  • Strong interpersonal skills

  • Intellectual curiosity, self-motivation and a willingness to take ownership

  • Experience working collaboratively with business/innovation/industry

  • Strong oral and written communication skills

  • Experience in managing, mentoring and coaching colleagues

  • Aptitude for using tools and frameworks to stress-test research opportunities

  • Comfortable with multitasking: you must be able to keep multiple projects moving simultaneously along various stages of maturity

  • At ease with responding to feedback from senior stakeholders; addressing their inputs appropriately, having considered what makes most sense for the research you are driving

Your experience should be equivalent of:

  • Holding a postgrad (taught or research) in social science (particularly ethics, psychology, behavioral science, economics, sociology, or anthropology); the arts, or humanities.

  • 5+ years of relevant experience in industry-aligned research projects

    • Experienced with evidence-based and/or ethnographic/design research

We understand that traditional models may not work for everyone, so we offer flexible working arrangements which include tailored options for how you work. However, we are looking for as close to full-time availability as possible.

As a team, we are ambitious and move at a fast pace. We respect the diversity of perspectives and experience within our team, both academic, commercial and real-world. We are at ease with and embrace ambiguity. We are always open to new ways to accomplish work and demonstrate flexibility in adapting to change.

Working together, we will have specific opportunities to use our research insights to make a difference in society; engage in ongoing activities that enable us to learn, practice, and evolve our disciplines, and develop capabilities that change the way our clients do business.
