Job description

Forerunning is our means of quality control when it comes to the routes and problems that are added to our walls nearly everyday. It's a collaborative effort amongst all involved in the process, where we refine movements, ensure accessibility, equitability, repeatability, and come to a consensus on perceived difficulty.

Forerunning mindfully allows for more diversity, body types, climbing styles, and abilities to be represented throughout our process. This helps us to ensure we are putting out only the best product to our community!

Forerunning takes place between 1:00 and 3:00pm, Monday through Friday.

You will be expected to work 2-3 shifts weekly. Shifts will begin prior to forerunning, to allow you to adequately warm up, and may carry over beyond 3:00pm, as you may be asked to help in cleaning up the newly set area of the gym.

Requirements are as follows:

  • Be warmed up and psyched to climb
  • Ability to climb 5.11 or V5 (This is just a guideline. Please apply even if you don’t quite feel confident at these grades!)
  • Good understanding of your own climbing abilities, strengths, and weaknesses
  • Participate in constructive feedback about the climbs with the routesetting team
  • Positive attitude and team player
