Position: Safety Manager
Location: Ontario, California
Role Summary: The purpose of the Safety Manager position is to facilitate the health and safety of all employees. This includes but is not limited to: accident and illness prevention, training of employees and supervisors, recordkeeping, policy creation/maintenance and federal/state/local compliance.
What You’ll Do
Accident & Illness Prevention
· ID and study trends related to observations, injuries/illnesses
· Promptly correct any hazardous area/equipment or procedure
· Distribute information of any injuries, first aids, near misses or hazards and
before/after photos
· Encourage employees to report any and all hazards in the workplace
· Create safety alerts and infographics for bulletin boards, time clock areas, lunch
rooms and other work areas
· Gather information from employees and management about concerns and address
in a timely manner
Recordkeeping:
· Update logs and safety trackers (daily/weekly/monthly)
· Audit Corrective Action log
· Keep attendance records of all training conducted
· Maintain hot work permits, confined space entry permits, lock-out forms, e-stop
checklists, etc.
Compliance
· Organize Safety Committee information and facilitate discussions and agenda
· Audit safety policies on an annual basis (or as needed)
· Enforce all policies equally to employees, contractors and anyone else on the
property
· Maintain health and safety equipment (AED, confined space atmospheric meters,
fall protection equipment, first aid cabinets, wash stations, etc)
· Stay current on new laws and updated regulations
Accountability
· Ensure Safety Work Orders are completed in a timely manner
· Take note of housekeeping and safety hazards as well as environmental concerns
and distribute to appropriate person(s)
Training
· Create Toolbox Talk topics and training materials
· Conduct weekly safety meetings to the incoming crew
· Conduct New Hire training
· Plan CPR/First Aid training when needed
· Ensure required OSHA training is conducted
Other:
· Manage and stock PPE and First Aid supplies
· Be aware of any on-site contractors and their location(s)
What You’ll Need:
- 8 years safety experience (industrial/manufacturing)
- CPR/First Aid/AED Certification (unexpired)
- Cal/OSHA 10 Hour Certificate
- Cal/OSHA 30 Hour Certificate
- Workplace Health & Safety Certificate
- Preferred experience/training: Rigging, Scaffolding, Trench and Shore, Forklift, Fall Protection
Pay Transparency: The starting annual salary for this opportunity ranges from $95k-$125k. Other rewards may include annual bonus eligibility, which is based on company and individual performance. Please note the compensation information is a good faith estimate for this position. It assumes a rate based on location and experience.
