Qualified candidates should be prepared to fulfill a multifaceted role encompassing the duties of a school library media specialist and educational technology specialist.The Librarian is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the day to day operations of the schools library media center. Qualified applicants must be prepared to maintain, develop, and provide equitable access to a collection of literature reflective of the values and interests of a diverse student population and supportive of curriculum being taught throughout the school. Qualified candidates must be motivated to remain up-to-date on the latest trends in young adult literature as well as the best non-fiction resources in both print and digital formats to meet student needs. The Librarian also serves as the schools expert on best practices in conducting research and the ethical, lawful use of found information -- e.g. copyright and properly cited attribution. The Educational Technology Specialist supports the practical, ethical, and technical applications of various types of media to both staff and students. Qualified applicants should demonstrate sound computer skills in both Mac and PC environments and be knowledgeable with the file systems and basic applications of both operating systems. The Educational Technology Specialist should also have a solid foundation in digital multimedia applications as well as standard written and visual forms of media. Qualified candidates should additionally demonstrate a willingness to collaborate with colleagues, develop lesson plans, engage student learners, and participate in professional development to further enhance their own skills.
