Heartland AEA has a full-time position available for the 2023-24 contract year, based out of either the Adel or Guthrie Center office serving Region 1. This position will be a .5 Social Emotional Behavioral Mental Health Lead and a .5 Challenging Behavior and Autism Consultant. The SEBMH/CBAT position will support the district and buildings in implementing a Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) within the district's strategic plan, provide job-embedded professional learning, and provide technical support and coaching to district and building-level staff in implementing the social emotional learning focus of their Multi-Tiered System of Supports. Candidates must have significant experience in supporting challenging behavior as this position also provides expert-level problem-solving, consultation, modeling and coaching for teachers, paraprofessionals and AEA staff. A strong background in behavior analysis, instructional/intervention design, testing hypotheses, writing FBAs and BIPs and coaching implementation is required.
Qualifications:
Candidates for this position must be appropriately licensed/certified by the Iowa Board of Educational Examiners. Specialists or Masters education levels are preferred as well as have a post-master’s level of professional training in an approved behaviorally-oriented program. Prefer candidates with strong skills and experience with systems work in SEBMH/MTSS; very strong interpersonal and team collaboration skills; strong problems solving, data use, coaching and consultation skills and experience. Candidates should have some content knowledge around SEBMH including but not limited to: PBIS - Tier 1, 2, 3, mental health , safe, caring, and healthy learning environments, social emotional learning, college and career readiness, as well as a background in behavior assessment and support.
