2nd Shift Warehouse Manager
The 2nd shift Warehouse Manager is accountable for maintaining productive and cost-effective operations, ensuring employee safety, driving continuous improvement, and maintaining Union relations. This role reports into the DC Operations Manager and coordinates closely with the day shift operations to ensure smooth shift transitions and continuation of order processing. The Warehouse manager trains and increases the efficiency of the systems of support such as the human resource working for the organization, IT department, etc.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Daily duties Include, but are not limited to the following activities. Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs.
- Assist and support the operations manager in all aspects of the distribution center
- Efficiently maintain the daily print backlog
- Strong background in receiving and shipping
- Working and manage departmental supervisors to manage daily operations (outbound needs, Processing, Packing, Shipping, etc.), inventory control and assure optimal productivity
- Train supervisors on new and alternative methods of efficiency
- Manage employee productivity, quality assurance and work safety programs
- Work with IT and Maintenance to solve any technical or mechanical problems that may arise
- Manage manpower needs to ensure proper staffing in the assigned departments and scheduling temporary support when needed
- Engages and motivates team members, ensuring proper training and coaching
- Manage the distribution center in the absence of the manager and Open and close the building as needed
Position Summary: Maintains operations by initiating, coordinating, and enforcing program, operational, and personnel policies and procedures. Complies with Receiving inbound & shipping Outbound requirements; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions. Safeguards warehouse operations and contents by establishing and monitoring procedures and protocols. Controls inventory levels by conducting physical counts; reconciling inventories. Maintains physical condition of warehouse by planning and implementing procedures; Achieves goals and objectives month and Quarter end; initiating corrective actions. Completes warehouse operational requirements by scheduling and assigning employees; following up on work results. Maintains warehouse staff by coaching and training employees. Maintains warehouse staff job results by counseling, and disciplining employees; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results. Maintains professional and technical knowledge. Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed. Having a clear understanding of the company's policies and vision and how the warehouse contributes to these. Monitoring staff performance and progress; motivating, organize and encourage teamwork within the workforce to ensure productivity targets are met or exceeded.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5-10 years of experience in managing large teams and multiple departments within a distribution environment
- Experience with Wholesale distribution and ensuring full compliance with customer requirements/agreements
- Retail and/or Direct-to-Consumer fulfillment experience
- Experience with managing and working with a Union workforce
- Experience with WMS systems
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Proven ability to motivate team members and drive continuous improvement
- Strong analytical and decision-making skills
- Ability to work closely with cross-functional partners and lead network initiatives
- Willingness to work extended days and weekends as business needs require
- Willingness to work on the 2nd Shift
- Bi-lingual- Able to speak and understand (Spanish) is a plus
