Security Officer
Position Summary:
Security Officer is responsible for security of the Kootenai Health and the safety of its patients, staff, employees and visitors with in its legal boundaries.
This position is a PRN (As needed position) which typically covers for about 36 hours per week.
FT positions are typically hired internally.
Responsibilities:
- This must be done in a manner that is compatible with Kootenai Health’s culture and service orientation
- Patrols hospital buildings and grounds, provides escorts for employees and visitors
- Responds to emergency calls and assists in restraining
- Exercises independent judgment in the course of carrying out overall responsibilities
- Public Relations are a key factor of this position
- This position works under limited supervision
- Work situations are a variety of routine and non-routine situations and functions requiring a service-oriented individual with good judgment and confidentiality
- Performs other related duties as assigned
- Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the field
- Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
- Regular and predictable attendance is an essential job function
- Competent to meet age specific needs of the unit assigned
Requirements and Minimum Qualifications:
- Associate Degree preferred
- 1 to 3 years’ Military, Law Enforcement or Security background preferred
- Health care security experience desired
- Must have valid driver's license and good driving record
- Must successfully pass an extensive background investigation
- BLS Required. Current AHA Healthcare provider, American Red Cross or KH BLS within 60 days of hire
- Must maintain current certification for MOAB, handcuff and baton training
- Successful completion of Hospital Security Officers Basic Training Program and receipt of certificate through the International Association for Hospital Security and Safest Foundation within the first 90 days of employment required
Working Conditions:
- Must be able to maintain a standing and/or sitting position
- Typical equipment used in a clinical job
- Must be able to stoop, crouch, or bend
- Must be able to push, pull, or transport heavy equipment
