Senior Aero Thermal Fluids & CFD Engineer - Space Systems (Hybrid)
Hybrid: Employees who are working in Hybrid roles will work regularly both onsite and offsite. Ratio of time working onsite will be determined in partnership with your leader.

In Space Systems, we design and manufacture Environmental Control and Life Support Systems (ECLSS) and Active Thermal Control Systems (ATCS) on a number of space platforms including the International Space Station, the current U.S. space suit, unmanned satellites, manned space vehicles such as the Boeing CST-100 Starliner and the Orion (part of the Artemis mission to return humans to the moon), as well as future the of Space Suit Services for space station and lunar missions.
Position Overview:
We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual to join us as a Systems Analysis Engineer to support the design, development, and verification/validation of hardware for future space vehicles. This position is specifically related to designing and analyzing components used in manned / unmanned space vehicle thermal management. Qualified individuals must be familiar with general CFD steady/unsteady modeling of fluid transport systems, turbomachinery (pumps/fans), heat exchangers, and electronics cooling. Simulation needs range from performance/pressure-drop predictions to full-conjugate heat transfer modeling.
Role Responsibilities:
The individual should also be comfortable working in a hands-on lab environment. Responsibilities include general test support, data collection and reduction, and a general understanding of the selection and operation of typical lab instrumentation (including flow meters, pressure transducers, control valves, power meters, etc.)
Depending on the variable non-steady state nature of CFD tasks/work, additional responsibilities may include supporting Systems Engineering focused tasks involving system development trade studies and optimization, development of concepts of operations, and developing product requirements at the system/component level for the mechanical, electrical, software, and thermal-fluid disciplines. Looking for individuals with expertise in CFD but also excited to stretch their skills into systems engineering tasks.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree (typically in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations OR Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years experience OR In absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience is required
- Must be a U.S. Person/Permanent Resident “Green Card” holder
Preferred Qualifications:
- Ability to work well both independently and within an integrated product development (IPD) team environment
- Familiarity with Reynolds-Averaged Navier-Stokes (RANS) CFD
- Excellent attention to detail
- Excellent writing & math skills
- Familiarity with Simcenter Star-CCM+ or ANSYS Fluent
- Familiarity with electronics cooling simulation in ANSYS Icepak
- Experience performing component conduction/convection/radiation heat transfer modeling
- Familiarity with CFD simulation of rotating equipment
- Familiarity with 1D modeling of fluid systems
