Senior Data Architect

Must be able to work independently, acting as the lead expert in data, and work with business analysts, project managers, architects, app developers and data engineers to deliver the results on time and with quality.

We will count on you to:
- Mercer Data & Analytics COE is looking a senior data architect, with strong technical background as well as leadership qualities, to fill in as the leader of the data platform. Key responsibilities of this role include:
- Oversee the development and maintenance of a centralized data platform with latest big data and advanced analytics technology deployed globally on premise and on major public clouds.
- Oversee a pool of 50+ contingent data professionals developing and supporting 20+ projects and products on the platform
- Define and maintenance operation standards on the platform.
- Improve the way data assets are managed, and working with business to find new ways to monetize data.
- Provide centralized data services for Digital solutions teams – data scientists, business users with NoSQL and Big Data platforms, hybrid cloud, and BI tools.
- This position will cover multiple data driven projects encompassing data requirements gathering, discovery, pipeline design, data modeling, DDL release, and query tuning.
- Must be able to work independently, acting as the lead expert in data, and work with business analysts, project managers, architects, app developers and data engineers to deliver the results on time and with quality.
What you need to have:
- 10+ years of experience working with data and 7+ years as a data architect
- Broad knowledge and experience with relational, NoSQL and Big Data concepts, environments and common products
- Solid background with SQL and SQL-like query languages, as well as various types of schema (relational, json, AVRO, etc)
- 5+ years experience with common data modeling tools, such as Erwin, and conversion between various types of schema
- Expertise in Big Data (knowledge and background) is required, including Hadoop platform (HDFS, Hive, etc), and other query engines, such as Presto
- Experience delivering data solutions in the cloud (AWS / Azure)
- Good documentation and verbal communication skills
- Must be a dedicated team member who can handle various projects
