The Opportunity
Reporting to the Director, Streaming Optimization for QVC+ HSN+, the Senior Data Engineer build high quality data pipelines driving analytic solutions and models and exposing these models and analytics as dashboards. These solutions will create insights from multiple data sources, helping the team improve the data-driven decision-making and add personalization capabilities to our applications. We are looking for an understanding of data architecture, data engineering, data analysis, modeling, reporting, and a basic understanding of data science techniques and workflows.
You will have experience with streaming media and be an experienced data / software engineer with experience creating data products supporting analytical solutions along with working data validation knowledge. You will have experience working as part of a technical, analytics team, and want to solve complex data problems and deliver the insights to promote analytics strategy.

Your Impact
- Design data architecture, models, and pipelines that follow data architecture principles and our goals. Solve complex data problems to deliver insights that help our business to achieve their goals.
- Create data products for analytics and data scientist team members to improve their productivity. Develop and deliver plans on analytic data engineering capabilities, standards, and processes. Partner with the product team and solutions architects to develop technical architectures for projects. Learn about machine learning, data science, computer vision, artificial intelligence, statistics, and applied mathematics
- Lead the evaluation and deployment of new tools and process for analytic data engineering to improve our productivity as a team.
- Coach peers on tech team, specifically with code reviews and pair programming
- Other responsibilities - technical designs, peer reviews on pull requests
What You Bring
- 5+ years’ experience Retail, Tech, Streaming, or a related field with an analytical and business background.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related fields.
- SQL required
- Demonstrate knowledge in technical domain
- Understanding of technical architecture, application landscape, test and deployment automation and IT environment, and tools used in development, deployment and testing
- 4+ years of experience in software development and experience with Data warehousing concepts, database design patterns, ETL methodologies, Processing and Transforming massive quantities of Data, Data cleansing, Data wrangling, and Data quality
- 3+ years hands-on experience in developing data engineering processes and SQL
- 2+ years hands-on experience using Cloud tools: Azure Databricks, Azure Delta lake, Azure Data Factory, SQL Server, Azure Synapse, Azure DevOps, Data Lake(ADLS), PySpark, Databricks Notebooks
- Experience with data warehouse design techniques including slow changing dimensions, aggregation, partitioning and indexing strategies
- Experience with AI for personalization models to help with personalized content
- Experience troubleshooting application issues
- Experience looking for better ways of solving technical problems and designing the solution
For New York City based roles only: The annual gross base salary range for this position is $135,000 -$216,000. Salary ranges are general guideline only, and actual salaries will vary and are based on factors such as a candidate's qualifications, skills, experience and geographic location as well as business and market conditions. At Qurate Retail Group, salary is just one component of a comprehensive Total Rewards package that might include an annual bonus, long term incentives, a robust benefits package (inclusive of health & welfare), 401K match, tuition reimbursement and company discounts — plus an amazing culture!
