Our Opportunity:

Chewy is currently seeking a Head of Category Marketing to join our growing and fast-paced team. We have a unique opportunity to change the way pet parents care for their pets and we are looking for an inspirational builder who can pioneer and lead a key marketing team. Our vision for Chewy’s Head of Category Marketing is to make it trivially easy for customers to discover, understand, and engage with our suite of retail categories (e.g., Consumables, Hardgoods, Fresh) by developing a deep understanding of the customer segments, executing a targeted launch or always on campaigns, and leading our tentpole events (e.g., Holiday, Blue Box). This team will own the retail merchandising strategy on the Chewy website, mobile app with a big seat at the table for deciding on promotion cadence, size, and cost. In addition, the team will own the prioritization and flighting of our biggest marketing programs into our paid channels and inventing new RTB’s or better positioning existing RTB’s.

This is an opportunity to come in at the ground floor and define Chewy’s Category Marketing playbook and become a core part of the overall business. A successful ecommerce Category Marketing program operates across 4 key areas, 1) provide 1P & 3P consumer insights to inform RTB, CTA’s, and customer experience, 2) create positioning frameworks based on attributes, features, and benefits relative to customers’ needs and motivations, 3) develop campaigns targeting defined audiences with launch and sustained marketing driving awareness, consideration and, 4) increase category usage through continued customer engagement marketing. We are looking for an outstanding leader that has experience leading ecommerce Category Marketing, defining and growing big customer facing categories, has a track record for developing a vision, defining a strategy and building programs and features from the ground up that resonates with customers.

What You’ll Do:

  • Establish the vision, strategy, and execution rigor for an eCommerce Category Marketing program.
  • Build a great cross function team that can delivery results and accelerate time.
  • Own product positioning, go to market, post launch growth, and new product development (e.g., Low Price Guarantee?).
  • Establish a set of mechanisms and processes to audit and regularly communicate plans, results, and customer insights with key stakeholders.
  • Be a key member of the CMO’s leadership team.
  • Build and inspire a world class marketing organization and create a culture of inclusivity.

What You’ll Need:

  • Experience building marketing teams from the ground up and a willingness to roll-up sleeves when necessary.
  • Ability to effectively communicate, motivate and inspire cross-functional teams with professionalism and clarity.
  • Ability to create a dynamic work environment that attracts and inspires exceptional talent.
  • Exceptional analytical skills and a penchant for utilizing data to make well informed decisions and to drive a culture of data-based decision making throughout a marketing organization.
  • Comfort moving frequently between providing strategic direction and diving deep to audit processes, progress, and results.
  • Ability to think creatively, solve problems and remove barriers.
  • A willingness to challenge the status-quo and to stick with a vision, even in the face of significant hurdles.
  • 15+ years of marketing experience, 5+ years with an ecommerce company, merchandizing and product marketing experience.
