A Day in The Life Of:
In this role, you will be a member of the COE delivery team based in Galway, a team of finance professionals providing services and support to manufacturing sites across Medtronic in multiple financial areas around Cost Accounting, Standard Setting, Inventory reporting as well as leading monthly financial close processes, preparing financial analyses and reporting of results and other key performance metrics. You will also be part of our Cell Operating System (COS) and continuous improvement initiatives.
Main responsibilities are:
  • Participates in monthly close activities on behalf of the manufacturing sites, including journal entries and account reconciliations, to ensure integrity and accuracy of financial results.
  • Complete monthly, weekly, and daily financial reporting of results and other key performance metrics, analyzing results, identifying issues, and explaining trends and variances to plan and forecast; providing insights to business partners and other stakeholders to drive action and business results.
  • Performs excess and obsolete inventory reserve assessments / calculations on behalf of the sites, OUs and regions.
  • Updates and maintains the control records for product standard costing on behalf of manufacturing sites for annual standard setting and throughout the year as required.
  • Supports the design, modifications and/or maintenance of accounting and reporting systems to ensure an adequate recognition of financial transactions.
  • Responsible for the adherence to and communication of accounting and auditing policies and procedures and internal controls.
  • Bring a mindset of continuous improvement to all aspects of the job, including recurring processes and stand-alone projects.
Key Skills & Experience
  • Bachelor’s Level 8 Degree in Finance or Accounting
  • Accountancy qualification completed (CPA or equivalent) is essential
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in finance role
  • Strong understanding of Finance function and Management Accounting processes
  • Motivated individual with strong analytical and problem-solving skills and good business acumen
  • Capable of effectively partnering with various levels and function within our organization
  • Excellent English Skills (both oral and written)
  • SAP and Hyperion experience preferable
  • High proficiency in MS Excel/PowerPoint and strong presentation skills
  • Ability to take direction and complete assigned duties while also proactively thinking ahead
