Job Title: Senior Graphic Designer


Location: College Park, MD – University of Maryland Global Campus


Department Category: Administrative Support Services


FLSA Status: Non-Exempt


Supervisory Responsibility: No Supervisory responsibilities


POSITION SUMMARY - The Senior Graphic Designer will be responsible for designing a variety of materials to promote University of Maryland Global Campus including, but not limited to, major publications (schedules, catalogs, and collateral brochures), direct mail, advertising, social media, web pages and banners, posters, invitations, and exhibits.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES


The Senior Graphic Designer be responsible for:


  • Conceptualizes and designs communications as well as presenting concepts to internal clients Manage projects and related paperwork.
  • Communicates the status of projects to production, the art director, and clients
  • Works with university staff and printers to create marketing communications that are results-oriented
  • Attends press checks and new project kickoff meetings
  • Coordinates photography/illustration needs and design priorities with production scheduling
  • Be the LEAD on Social Media and review and assign up to 30 memes per month
  • Works closely with UMGC freelance designers
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned

EQUIPMENT OPERATED:

  • Computer (PC), printer, fax, and other office equipment

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Four to seven years of experience in conceptualizing, designing, and producing a wide variety of projects, including marketing collateral, publications, advertising, online communications, and corporate identity
  • **Digital Portfolio required**
  • Have the ability to develop design strategies that convey a strong institutional identity and are effective in recruiting and retaining adult students
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and strong project management skills
  • Flexible team player; detail and deadline oriented; a problem solver; and have the ability to multi-task
  • Expert knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud InDesign, Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, and Acrobat

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Strong creative skills with a strong typographic sense
  • Skilled at designing effective marketing materials
  • Experience working in a multicultural environment is a plus

PHYSICAL, MENTAL, AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS

  • The work entails the performance of physical activities including walking, standing, bending, stooping, lifting and carrying possibly heavy objects. The work will entail the individual to be able to concentrate and pay attention for long periods of time. The work will contain you in a stationary position for long periods of times. This environment is indoors of the office. This is a fast pace moving environment and must be able to, collaborates well with others and proactively contributes to group objectives.
