We are recruiting for the following position at our Irish site located in Lough Beg, Cork.
You will be responsible to::

Participate and collaborate in the study and development of safe, robust and profitable chemical processes that are suitable to the development phase of the products and that can be scaled-up and validated. Constantly challenge processes for improvements in yield, quality and throughput that will give an advantage to the business. As chemistry technical expert within the process team for any given process, manage that process so that it operates to the required business, safety and quality standards. Keep up to date with the latest developments in Chemistry, Process Development and API manufacturing. Maintain an awareness of the happenings within the Pharmaceutical Industry within Ireland. Study, develop, implement and control profitable chemical processes that comply with HSE and quality policies. Propose and implement new technologies related to the areas of chemistry and processing
Main responsibilities:
  • Work as site chemist in process development projects either in conjunction with other R&D groups within the company or separately on the site
  • Keep up to date with the latest developments in chemistry, chemical processes and API manufacturing.
  • Study, design, develop and optimise chemical processes
  • Participate in technical meetings both internally and with clients
  • Analyse results of process development work and production campaigns
  • Report the results of process development at required frequencies and prepare formal process development reports
  • Participate in HAZOP, PHA studies and EPA submission preparation
  • Prepare and/or review and/or approve batch documentation.
  • Participate in team investigations on deviations and propose corrective and preventative actions for deviations and where required implement the assigned actions
  • On campaign completion, participate in the preparation of the campaign report including recommendations on process improvements for future campaigns.
  • Coordinate from the chemical viewpoint technology transfers, process validations and process monitoring for longer term commercial processes
  • Attend Symposiums and/or Courses as part of continuous improvement.
  • Evaluate new processes (including cost estimation).
  • Assure and promote compliance on Health, Safety and Environment in the areas and activities participated in. Actively participate in all site safety initiatives.
  • Assure and promote compliance on Quality in the areas and activities participated in.
  • Participate in knowledge sharing across the CRD discipline.
  • Implement and use tools to aid and improve the efficiency of process development work
  • Housekeeping of Technical Services laboratory to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Plan own work program, decisions on processes in partnership with the responsible Production Engineer; daily and longer range work schedules.
  • Propose topics for the training plan.
  • Propose new technologies and skills to be implemented.
  • Prepare, Review or Approve Process Documentation.
  • Prepare or Review Technical Services Documentation.
  • Communicate and discuss with clients technical subjects related to the projects.
  • Coordinate the transfer of technology in partnership with the responsible Production Engineer
We are looking to recruit a Candidate::

  • BSc / MSc / PhD in Chemistry preferably in the area of synthetic organic chemistry.
  • Min 2 years’ experience working in synthetic chemistry (organic or inorganic)
  • Knowledge of Organic Chemistry, Process Development, Process Optimization and GMPs.
  • Have worked in the development of chemical processes in the area of fine chemicals, especially API production and / or technology transfer of chemical processes and / or plant manufacturing.
  • Have experience the areas of:
    • Organic Syntheses
    • Technology Transfers
    • Process scale-up
    • Plant Support
  • Capacity for Analysis and Reasoning
  • Strong Communication & Teamwork skills
