St. Joseph's Foundation is a voluntary organisation providing comprehensive services for adults with intellectual disabilities and children with complex needs. Founded in 1968 the Foundation has grown through continuously responding to the needs of people with disabilities and their families. The Foundation provides services to children and adults. Adult’s services include; day services, residential, respite care, MDT and home support in the North Cork and South West Limerick region. We have day and residential services in various locations in the North Cork and South Limerick area; such as Charleville, Dromina, Newtownshandrum, Buttevant, Newmarket, Mitchelstown and Mallow, in Limerick; Ballylanders, Ballyagran, Bruree, Bruff Croom Dromcollogher, Granagh Kilmallock, and Liskennett.
St. Joseph’s Foundation is also lead agency for the North West Cork (CDNT 4) and the North East Cork (CDNT 5) Children’s Disability Network Teams (CDNTs). These teams are based in Mallow, Charleville and Fermoy and provide services for children 0-18 years presenting with complex needs, under the National Progressing Disability Services (PDS) Programme.

JOB TITLE: Senior Psychologist (35 Hours per week.)
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS: Children’s Disability Network Manager / Principal Psychologist.
LOCATION: Charleville and Mallow
JOB GOAL: To work as a member of the interdisciplinary Children’s Disability Network Team providing quality services in a Family Centred Practice model to children aged 0-18 years and their families within the region. The post holder will be responsible for the provision of a psychology services to include assessment and universal, targeted and direct intervention in an interdisciplinary model. The post holder will be required to work across a variety of settings including the clinic, schools, preschools and special schools, children’s homes and community settings
Duties & Responsibilities:
Professional/Clinical
- To provide psychological assessments individually and as part of a team to children with, or at risk of, complex disability and complete appropriate reports.
• To design appropriate interventions for children with challenging behaviours in response to child and family needs and goals, and where indicated in collaboration with mainstream and special school • To participate in the development of Individual Family Service Plans (IFSPs)
- To undertake relevant psychological interventions/therapies in relation to children with complex disabilities.
- To support parents and family members through the provision of counselling, advice and guidance as required.
- To provide family support in the implementation of programmes in the home.
- To establish and maintain working relationships with professional colleagues from other disciplines in the interdisciplinary team.
- To maintain good relationships with other statutory and non-statutory agencies.
- To participate in the organisation and development of psychological services of the Children’s Disability Network Team.
- To adhere to St. Joseph’s Foundation's and National and local Progressing Disability Services policies.
- To lead and/or participate in research programmes relevant to Disability Services.
- To keep up to date with current research, innovative approaches and recommended clinical practice in the areas of Children’s Disability.
- Aim for the highest possible professional ethics and expertise
- Be responsible for the co-ordination and delivery of service to their allocated caseload
