The Senior Psychometrician supports the design and execution of psychometric analyses and research to evaluate and ensure the quality of assessment offerings throughout the Supplemental/Intervention product portfolio. This position closely interacts with colleagues in Assessment Research, Instructional/Assessment Design, Product Development, Product Management, and Engineering.
Position Type: This is a regular, full-time position.- Compensation: Base pay is anticipated to be between $106,557.00 and $160,000.00 per year. Eligible employees may also receive incentive/commission/annual bonus pay based on individual and/or company performance. Compensation may vary based on factors such as, but not limited to, individual skills, experience, training, education/certifications, geographic location, internal equity, and local market conditions.
- Location: In this US-based position your location will be remote.
- Travel: You can also expect up to 25% travel, so be sure you have a valid driver’s license and automobile insurance and a clean driving record for at least the preceding 39 months.
Envision Your Experience

In this role you’ll have the opportunity to:
- Design and conduct psychometric analyses and research in support of K-12 testing programs including item calibration, differential item functioning analysis, forms construction, scaling and equating, and norming.
- Conduct research on the reliability, validity, forecasting accuracy, and classification accuracy of assessments.
- Provide guidance and recommendations during assessment design to ensure that assessments are high quality with adequate statistical properties for their intended use.
- Collaborate to design, maintain, and improve placement and adaptive learning mechanisms within our curriculum products.
- Develop and maintain documentation for all test development and research processes.
- Participate in the implementation of scoring algorithms and other statistical procedures used to analyze assessment data.
- Proactively monitor assessment performance to identify and resolve issues that impact data accuracy, reliability, and validity.
- Advise on best practices related to the interpretation of assessment data in product reporting.
- Prepare technical manuals, research briefs, white papers, and conference presentations to communicate research results to internal and external audiences.
- Keep abreast of current literature and research in educational measurement, educational testing, K-12 education, and statistics.
- Other duties as required.
Share Your Expertise .
Experience, education, and qualifications essential for success in this role, include:
- Ph.D. in Educational Measurement, Statistics, Quantitative Psychology, Cognitive Psychology, or a closely related field and 5-7 years of experience in the utilization of psychometric methods and statistical procedures.
- Experience in K-12 educational testing and/or adaptive testing preferred.
- Expertise in the application of classical test theory, item response theory (3PL, Graded Response models, Rasch), and equating.
- Experience with statistical analysis software (e.g., FlexMIRT, IRTPRO, SPSS, SAS, R, BILOG, WINSTEPS and/or PARSCALE). Experience with computer programming and SQL is a plus Proven ability to conduct high quality research.
- Excellent interpersonal, presentation, written, and oral communication skills.
