Your Opportunity

The role of Senior Quality Control Engineer is to work collaboratively and interdependently and as a team member on a wide range of Transportation projects under the supervision of a Senior Engineer. Our Transportation team delivers a wide variety of design build and design bid build projects for public sector clients.

The Senior Quality Control Engineer role will perform a variety of tasks which may include quality control review of design deliverables at various stages of development including preliminary conceptual designs, schematic designs, construction drawings and reports. The role will include participation to help mentor junior and mid-level staff. The projects that you will be assigned to assist may be broad, varied, diverse in scope, will include coordination and collaboration across multiple design teams and project locations.

Your Key Responsibilities

• Serve as an independent quality assurance technical lead for the project team responsible for reviewing deliverables for highway and bridge projects for accuracy and completeness.
• Review deliverable documentation for various project phases from feasibility analysis to construction close out.
• Coordinate with the project design team to determine review schedules, locations of project files, and other reference documents as may be needed to complete the review.
• Work with multiple teams to prioritize workload and schedule for various reviews over multiple projects.
• Participate in coordination meetings with internal team members and/or external consultants, owner and contractor, subcontractors, and vendors.
• Deliver complete reviews within project allocated budgets and defined schedules.
• Document reviews in accordance with PM Frameworks guidelines to provide compliance with ISO 9001 standards.

Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials

• Strong knowledge of highway and bridge project means and methods, materials, industry standards, construction techniques, and construction sequencing.
• Requisite knowledge and application of NYSDOT, FHWA and industry applicable codes.
• Strong understanding of all phases of project document production and the relationship between drawings and specifications.
• Thorough understanding of civil engineering concepts and ability to effectively communicate ideas to others.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Possesses excellent time-management skills.
• Ability to check the work of others for accuracy and completeness.
• Ability to participate and collaborate in project team setting and to engage in creative and critical thought.
• Mentor and lead other design team members.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, and a strong understanding of Bluebeam Revu.

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Engineering. Licensed Professional Engineer. 20 years of transportation and public works project experience. Prior experience in providing quality assurance reviews, directing / mentoring junior staff in execution of project deliverables is preferred.

Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
