Role Purpose
The Retail Channel Manager role is a senior leadership role that is responsible for the Vodafone Owned Retail Estates, delivering retail sales ambition and strategy execution.
The Retail Channel Manager will define the operating model and drive best in class customer experience across all Retail Owned Stores. The role will be responsible for superior customer experience (as measured currently through Net Promoter Score), strong culture and development within Channel and a robust and optimised operating model. The candidate will work closely with the Tribe Leads (Mobile, Prepaid and Fixed), Channel Operations, Brand, VBU and HR to ensure successful delivery of the Vodafone Ireland commercial targets and strategy.
The Retail Channel Manager will also be required to develop a retail strategy and translate it into meaningful action and results across Retail owned (circa 21 stores).
Key Responsibilities
- Key role enabling Vodafone to hit all its customer experience and customer base objectives
- Driving quality connections across both Fixed, Mobile and convergent propositions. Delivers quality mix of products and services as per DB to maximise ARPU growth
- Delivers Consumer DB target for Retail Connections and VAS
- Provides ongoing market feedback from their channel so that commercial teams can respond to customer issues and competitor activity in a speedy fashion
- Identify and address underperformance at a store level using footfall and sales data and driving our conversion metrics.
- Curate a suitable Sales Process as products, services and external climate evolves in Retail
- Support the overall brand of Vodafone through first class store presentation and team standards
- Manage the Vodafone Ireland Retail Limited P&L account. Ownership of the budgeting and forecasting process.
- The development and implementation of monthly, quarterly and annual sales plans aimed at exceeding sales and experience KPI’s.
- Manage relationship with internal Employee Affairs and external Trade Unions, and effectively resolve and communicate when challenges arise
- Communicate changes and updates to retail commissions. Support Channel Operations team to ensure commission compliance in Retail and address performance issues in Retail
- Support changes to the commission framework as products, services and systems evolve
- Input into target performance and forecasting
- Ensuring we reward frequently for stand out achievements and communicate clearly internally.
- Responsible for the management and development of Onboarding and Training Managers
- Together with HR defines requirements and roadmap for people capabilities, talent process and sales processes to deliver the best possible customer experience.
- Support Sales Managers to deliver training as required on new products, services, processes etc.
- Ensure that all stores are working towards highest level of customer service as identified by NPS scores in their region
- Ensure all in store equipment, store displays demonstration products, point of sale etc are set up as planned.
- Ensure brand guidelines are executed and adhered to in all stores
- Ensure Vodafone’s code of conduct with suppliers is adhered to
- Develop close internal partnerships with internal functions such as HR, Finance, Segment and Brand functions

- Ensure retail teams engage with People surveys and engagement activities, and identify areas of focus using people survey and panel data
- The Retail Channel Manager must organise and lead sales conferences, networking events and engaging with the local business community.
- Owner of Performance management KPIs, resource planning, Recruitment of high potential staff, succession planning to build a leadership pipeline and change programme management.
- To match Vodafone’s ambition to be number 1 in Total Telecoms in Ireland
- Embrace new products and services, and ensure successful launch and sell through in retail
- To drive increased converged sales and VAS
- Positively manage a changing Retail environment by harmonising the best of digital and retail combined to deliver the best experience for our customers
- Ensure our re-fit store standards remain consistent.
- First class communicator both internally and externally Lead by example and ensure all team members understand Vodafone’s strategy and ambitions
- Ensure all team members are properly equipped and informed of Vodafone’s products and services
- Represent Retail functionally within Vodafone and externally with customers and suppliers
KPI's
- Delivers Retail DB Sales and Service KPIs, driving quality connections across both Fixed, Mobile and Converged
- Manage the Vodafone Ireland Retail Limited P&L account, ensuring margin and revenue initiatives are delivered through the channel
- The development and implementation of monthly, quarterly and annual sales plans aimed at exceeding sales and experience KPI’s.
- Together with HR defines requirements and roadmap for people capabilities, talent process and sales processes to deliver the best possible customer experience
- Delivers best possible customer experience in Retail, through exceptional customer care results, high NPS, Digital enhancement and superior store merchandising and design
- The Retail Channel Manager must organise and lead sales conferences, networking events and engaging with the local business community.
- Owner of Performance management KPIs, resource planning, Recruitment of high potential staff, succession planning to build a leadership pipeline and change programme management
- Embrace new products and services, and ensure successful launch and sell through in retail
- Positively manage a changing Retail environment by harmonising the best of digital and retail combined to deliver the best experience for our customers
We're looking for you, if you have
- Experience working with multi site area management team. Knowledge and experience in Telco desirable but not essential.
- Experience of working cross-functionally and managing multiple stakeholders across the business
- Ability to understand a vast portfolio of products and services
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Strong team leader with ability to motivate team to drive for better results and develop them along the way
