Slitter Operator – Steel Processing

Marathon Metals, located in Detroit, processes flat rolled steel. We are in need of a Slitting Operator. Do you have previous experience as a Slitter? Since 1970, MNP has established a reputation as an award-winning fastener manufacturer through our continuous pursuits of excellence. Our fast-growing, manufacturing company is seeking a Slitter Operator for Marathon Metals in Detroit. This position will provide the successful candidate with the chance to apply their knowledge, learn new skills and work as a team within a clean and safe environment. The ideal candidate for this role has experience in the manufacturing sector and pays close attention to details. MNP is an Equal Opportunity and Second Chance employer.

Responsibilities

• Set up, operate and tend machines to start a production cycle
• Control and adjust machine settings (e.g. speed)
• Feed raw material or parts to semi-automated machines
• Inspect parts with precision and measuring tools
• Test operation of machines periodically
• Check output to spot any machine-related mistakes or flaws

Skills

• Experience as a machine operator preferred, but not required
• Understanding of production procedures preferred, but not required
• Adherence to health and safety regulations (e.g. constant use of protective gear)
• Attention to detail
• Dependable and reliable
• Teamwork and communication skills
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
