Social Media Officer

Purpose of role: This role is responsible for directing and curating social media campaign content in line with Primark’s global strategy. You will work directly with the Social Media Manager, supported by Social Media Coordinators and Assistants, to create an innovative, world-class, multi-channel social offering for Primark.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead end-to-end social media campaigns across platforms and departments, working with influencers, agencies and our in-house creative teams to create best in class social content.
  • Support the Social Media Manager in the creation of channel and content strategies.
  • Drive the editorial and creative direction of our social content, developing a strong visual identity and brand tone of voice.
  • Measure, report and analyse the performance of campaigns across channels. Understand social KPIs and provide insights and guidance to the business.
  • Own and develop the content calendar, working with the social media team and internal/external stakeholders to project manage campaigns, from conception to implementation.
  • Growing and expanding Primark’s presence into new, relevant social media platforms, plus increasing presence on existing ones.
  • Co-ordinate content with the digital & PR teams ensuring a joined up cohesive approach to all campaigns.
  • Work with influencer team to ensure coverage for key social media campaigns and creation of fit-for-platform content
  • Manage, mentor & develop a team of social media assistants to champion social media at Primark & implement an overall social content strategy.
  • Build relationships with external partners and creative agencies.
  • Research new developments in social media, communicate your findings to the team and develop ideas based on your findings.

Essential knowledge, education, skills and experience:
  • Expert understanding of social media platforms and audiences.
  • Strong team leader.
  • A good understanding of fashion, styling and the creative processes that this involves.
  • Confident user of MS Office and all Social Media platforms.
  • Experience in fashion media.
  • Degree educated or relevant Retail experience.
  • Energetic, confident, and professional attitude.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

  • Highly organised, detail-oriented, possessing the ability to effectively prioritise projects and deliverables whilst meeting deadlines set by management.
  • Excellent planning and organisation skills, ability to multi-task, plan and prioritise work schedule for self and team and work within agreed timescales.
  • Excellent attention to detail and an ability to analyse and interrogate high volumes of data as well as demonstrating an ability to focus on higher level overview.
  • Proven ability in managing sensitive matters whilst ensuring all Primark information remains confidential to the business.
  • Be a collaborative team player with excellent interpersonal/communication skills, while demonstrating high levels of emotional intelligence and possess the ability to push back with professionalism. Proven ability in developing effective working relationships across all levels of the organisation.
  • Operates with a high level of integrity, diplomacy, tact and professionalism.
  • Effective and persuasive presentation skills, including the ability to present complex information in an understandable manner to all areas of the business.
  • Ability to lead, influence and coach others.
  • Sound judgement, unquestionable ethics and integrity with high degree of transparency and trust.
