Software Engineer

TCS has an exciting career opportunity for a Principal / Sr. Principal Software Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Huntsville, AL.

Position Overview:

The selected Principal / Sr. Principal Software Engineer / Developer responsibilities will include the support of the Probabilistic Risk Assessment Database. You will be the primary software resource for updates and improvements to the Probabilistic Risk Assessment Database in support of the Operations and Sustainment portion of the Ground-Based Mid-course Defense program. You will also be responsible for developing and implementing software updates that best meet changing customer needs.

Essential Functions:

• Support advanced portions of the life-cycle of software development to include requirements definition, integration, and deployment.
• Prioritize and adjust tasks to accomplish project results with limited oversight and direction.
• Apply "systems thinking" to ensure developed products are scalable, maintainable, and meet end-user needs
• Communicate openly and effectively with teammates and customer representatives.

  This requisition may be filled at a higher grade based on qualifications listed below.
  
  Basic Qualifications:
  
  This requisition may be filled at either a Principal or a Sr. Principal Software Engineer level.
  
  Basic Qualifications for a Principal Software Engineer are:

• Bachelor's Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline preferred from an accredited university and 5 years of related experience, or a master’s degree in a STEM discipline and 3 years of related experience, or 0 years of experience with a PhD.
• Experience developing software in object-oriented programming languages such as C, C++, or C#
• A current active in-scope U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance is required to start.
  
  Basic Qualifications for a Sr. Principal Software Engineer are:

• Bachelor's Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline preferred from an accredited university and 9 years of related experience, or a master’s degree in a STEM discipline and 7 years of related experience, or 4 years of related experience with a PhD.
• Experience developing software in object-oriented programming languages such as C, C++, or C#
• A current active in-scope U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance is required to start.
  
  
  Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Software Engineering or related field.
• A strong understanding of mathematics / statistics and advanced technical problem-solving skills
• Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with technical teams and customer personnel.
• Experience analyzing complex problems and developing solutions based on limited direction and definition.
• Firm understanding of database development and networking basics.
• Firm understanding of Agile development practices.
• Experience with Missile Defense Systems.
• A current active in-scope U.S. Government DoD Top Secret security clearance.
