The City of Chesapeake is seeking a highly skilled C# Developer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience developing and implementing a variety of software solutions using C# and the .NET framework. You will be responsible for designing and implementing new features, writing clean and efficient code, and troubleshooting and debugging issues as needed.

Responsibilities:
  • Design, develop, and maintain software solutions using C# and the .NET framework
  • Collaborate with other developers, designers, and stakeholders to define and implement new features
  • Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code
  • Troubleshoot and debug issues as needed
  • Participate in code reviews and ensure the quality of the codebase
  • Experience in designing and implementing RESTful APIs
  • Experience in consuming and integrating with external APIs
  • Experience with version control systems such as Git
  • Strong understanding of object-oriented programming concepts
  • Strong understanding of software development principles and best practices
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience in Agile development methodologies
  • Experience with Microsoft SQL Server
  • Experience with front-end technologies such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript

Required Qualifications
VOCATIONAL / EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT: Requires a bachelor’s degree or any equivalent combination of education and experience in computer science or a closely related field.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT: In addition to satisfying the vocational/education standards, this class requires a minimum of two years of full-time experience in software development and engineering.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Employees may be expected to work hours in excess of their normally scheduled hours in response to short-term department needs and/or City-wide emergencies.

Preferred Qualifications
  • 3+ years of experience as a C# developer
  • Strong knowledge of C# and the .NET framework
  • Experience with RESTful API development and integration
  • Experience with Git
  • Strong understanding of OOP concepts
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Strong communication skills
  • Familiarity with Agile development methodologies
  • Familiarity with Microsoft SQL Server
