Slippery Rock University invites applications for a Full-Time Temporary Instructor in Sport Management beginning August 2023. Slippery Rock University’s Sport Management program has been in existence since 1977 and is nationally recognized as one of the first programs accredited by COSMA.
Academic Responsibilities:
Teach a variety of undergraduate courses in sport management. Provide positive team-oriented interaction with colleagues regarding curricular and programmatic decisions. Model an energetic and professional demeanor to students. Recruit outstanding students, engage in scholarly activity, assist in increasing the visibility of the undergraduate program, and potentially supervise sport management interns.
Minimum Qualifications
ABD in Sport Management or closely aligned, COSMA-approved field required, Doctorate in Sport Management or closely aligned, COSMA-approved field preferred. Candidates must be able to demonstrate teaching ability in a minimum of three of the following areas: Introduction to Sport Management, Diversity in Sport Management, Sport Finance & Budgeting; Sport Sales and Fundraising, Sport Law; Sport Facility and Event Management; and Research Methods. The ability to design and conduct online courses is essential. The candidate must demonstrate a commitment to the education of diverse populations. Successful performance in an on-campus interview, including a teaching session, will be required.
Preferred Qualifications
Preference will be given to candidates with experience working in the sport industry, who demonstrate knowledge of assessment, display enthusiasm for teaching, and show the willingness to devote the time and energy to make the undergraduate program at Slippery Rock University among the elite in the nation.
