Job Summary
This individual has responsibility for creating and executing marketing plans for the assigned service line and/or campus/entity including strategy and tactic development; creative concept, messaging and design direction; goal-setting, financial management and results measurement; and oversight of the on-going implementation. This position uses principles of marketing and communications to create awareness of and preference for the Memorial Hermann brand as well as the service line and/or campus/entity. Individual builds and maintains relationships with key internal stakeholders and strategic external groups including leadership, physicians, consumers, businesses, government officials, donors, Chambers, ISDs and more through proactive, hands-on interactions with a goal to foster profitable growth. Role requires excellent marketing planning, project management, team building, negotiating and communications skills, and the ability to effectively work in a dyadic reporting structure. This scope of responsibility is defined as overseeing marketing for a priority System service line, a System division, and typically has geographic market or specialty facility marketing oversight. Minimum Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Advertising, Communications, Business/Strategy or related field required. Master's degree (MBA, MHA or MS in related field) considered.

Experience / Knowledge / Skills:
  • Ten (10) years progressive professional experience in marketing or relevant field with previous product or service line marketing experience required. Proven business results and performance excellence within previous positions.
  • Previous management experience required.
  • Must be willing to commute in the greater metropolitan area for business and customer needs.
  • Experienced in the development, integration and use of multi-channel advertising, public relations, corporate communications, digital and sales strategies to achieve market share and brand power.
  • Demonstrated success in creating, implementing, measuring, and/or executing marketing strategies for a service line(s) in healthcare or comparable industry.
  • Experienced in strategic marketing plan development, implementation, evaluation and re-alignment with autonomy and compliance to budget and span of control.
  • Proven success in adhering to deadlines and managing time among competing priorities including large scale complex projects.
  • Must be able to manage a budget and maintain accountability for a cost center demonstrating strong fiscal responsibility.
  • Advanced oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong computer skills expected including proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point), CRM programs and other web-based applications.

Principal Accountabilities
  • Develops complex marketing strategies and manages the ongoing implementation of fact-based, goal-focused, measurable marketing programs that are consistent with the Memorial Hermann strategic vision as well as those of the focused clinical service line(s) and/or campuses/entities to achieve smart growth and produce a return on investment (ROI).
  • Active member of the service line and/or campus/entity administrative team, maintains an in-depth knowledge of Memorial Hermann and service line and/or campus/entity strategic objectives and business goals as well as its clinical capabilities.
  • Initiates and directs the annual marketing planning for the assigned service line and/or campus/entity by reviewing demographic, socioeconomic, and competitive data; industry and service line trends and other internal/external forces affecting continued business success.
  • Leads the various teams of diverse functional specialists in the implementation of marketing strategies and tactics to achieve results.
  • Leads people and service line at a system level with responsibility for budget, metrics and overall program performance.
  • Recruit, hire, train, manage, and mentor staff for personal growth and to achieve marketing goals and objectives.
  • Provides guidance for and/or resolves complex business and client concerns.
  • Prepares annual budget, administers funds in support of service line and/or campus/entity marketing efforts. Maintains financial accountability over cost center/budget and ensures cost-effective stewardship of resources. Approves invoices, monitors expenses and accounts for variances against budget. Takes measures to reduce costs as necessary.
  • Proactively establishes strategy and campaign metrics, evaluates effectiveness of efforts and prepares reports on the results, learns and improves or eliminates activities as appropriate based on results. Reports results to senior leadership monthly.
  • Collaborates with business unit executives, councils, physicians, colleagues and other identified departments to achieve marketing objectives. Provides strategic direction, leadership and motivation ensuring that all parties work together to achieve the bottom line measured results. Maintains positive relationships.
  • Responds promptly and courteously to internal requests and external calls/solicitations as appropriate to achieve business objectives. Facilitates resolution of escalated requests and concerns.
  • Leads assigned facility's and/or service line's internal communications efforts which may include copy development, message delivery through employee newsletters, OneSource intranet site and digital monitor screens.
  • Oversees coordination of internal and external marketing events, including promotion of the event, set-up, onsite logistics/ representation, evaluation of its effectiveness and anything else necessary for success. May include some night and weekend responsibilities and at times heavy lifting.
  • Proactively seeks and builds strategic partnerships on behalf of respective service line and/or campus/entity through fervent and active involvement with applicable networks, Chambers, school districts, local government, businesses, targeted community groups, and other relevant organizations.
  • Advocates for safe care to patients, staff and visitors; adheres to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications including time management, supply management, productivity and quality of service.
  • Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education and skills competency; supports department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization; serves as preceptor, mentor and resource to less experienced staff.
