TITLE: FHE Sr. Designer

REPORTS TO: Department Manager

Position Summary:

THE SR. DESIGNER MANAGES ENGINEERING PROJECTS WHICH INCLUDES WORKING WITH OTHERS TO OVERSEE

TECHNICAL DELIVERABLES AND ENSURE QUALITY AND TIMELINESS OF THE PROJECTS

Job Description/Expectations:

• Lead a team of designers to deliver projects.
• Train, coach and develop the team.
• Prepare and present progress reports to Department Manager.
• Evaluate team workload & capacity, assign & prioritize work, review progress, and evaluate project delivery performance.
• Provide technical support, review detailed designs, actively participate in problem solving activities.
• Utilize project management to insure product delivery on schedule.
• Estimate new project cost and timelines.
• Develop and document engineering processes, procedures, methods, standards, and tool selection.
• Protect intellectual property appropriately.
• Increase team development efficiency through continuous improvement.
• Ownership of full product life cycle - new product development to product support of products in market.
• Insure quality products are delivered with auditable documentation.
• Support operations and sales with technical support.
• Manage project budget.

Knowledge / Skills / Expertise:

REQUIRED SKILLS

• Ability to lead innovative design projects
• Motivated team player with excellent communication skills
• Ability to summarize and present concise information
• High level of design acumen
• 10+ yrs progressive design experience
• Mechanical structural design and analysis experience.

DESIRED SKILLS

• Onshape 3D CAD experience
• Oil & Gas industry experience
• Familiar with manufacturing machining and welding processes
• Metallurgical material exposure
• Electrical & electronic system experience – Mechatronics

Environmental Conditions and Work Environment:

• Working long hours between breaks and/or meals
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee may or may not be exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time.

• May have to manage a number of projects at one time and may be interrupted frequently to meet the needs and requests of clients and co-workers.
• May find the environment to be busy, noisy and will need excellent organizational and time and stress management skills to complete the required tasks.
• On occasion weekend or evening work may be expected.

Physical Demands:

• This position requires continual use of your hands, repetitive motions, sitting, standing, walking, stooping and handling materials.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color and peripheral vision and depth perception.
• May have to spend long hours sitting and using office equipment and computers which can cause muscle strain.

May also have to do some light lifting of supplies and materials from time to time.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $33.50 - $38.50 per hour
