The Professional Affairs Specialist is a critical member of the PACE Team and facilitates the management of Grant & Donation applications, HCP consultant contracts and payments, maintain profile/utilization tracking and communication updates. In this role, you will be the point of contact for Medical Societies, Patient Advocacy Groups, external HCPs and KOLs regarding Medical Education, Advisory boards, Congresses (Conventions) and charitable giving. This role requires the utmost professional communication and compliance knowledge while working collaboratively with PACE team members and cross functionally with other teams within the global Diabetes Organization.
A Day in the Life
Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.
  • Support and facilitate Grant & Donation program.
    • Conduct prompt, in-depth analyses of funding requests for compliance with organizational standards.
    • Organize review by internal stakeholders to obtain relevant information to support analysis and funding decision.
    • Document and communicate funding decisions, then process payment within the business procedure.
    • Lead internal efforts to further develop/improve funding-assessment process and/or funding guidelines.
    • Assist third-party requesters and employees with questions regarding the application process and the Medtronic Giving Connection system.
    • Analyze grants/donations and budget data and provide information to leadership for planning purposes.
  • Support and facilitate HCP contracting, services and payments for conventions, forums, symposia educational content and scientific medical education programming meetings with the objective to train on product and therapy awareness.
    • Oversee, triage and/or provide timely communication to HCPs regarding questions they may have related to their contract, payment, expectations and/or scope of work.
    • Need assessments, on-going engagement requests and fiscal year project briefs
    • Administer everyday work-flow that may come through our Professional Affairs dedicated email inbox.
    • Coordinate with team to resolve all issues within required timeframe and recommend appropriate changes to all policies and procedures and evaluate all implementation for team.
  • Partner cross-functionally with finance, legal, compliance, USCO dept, Transparency team and other Medical education teams outside the US when appropriate and needed.
  • Collaborate with system integration teams when process changes and/or software updates are needed.
  • Develop and adhere to best practices that will improve speed and decisiveness
  • Manage, maintain and continual development of the KOL database and supporting communication touchpoints as needed
  • Maintain and upholding Business Conduct Standard (BCS) Guidelines at all times
  • Travel up to 10%


Must Have: Minimum Requirements

Bachelors Degree and 4+ years experience in contracts, communications, or payments in healthcare or regulated industry
OR
Masters Degree and 2+ years experience in contracts, communications, or payments in healthcare or regulated industry
Nice to Have
  • Previous Medtronic experience and/or knowledge of Diabetes products and therapies and related disease state.
  • Proficiency with the Medtronic Giving Connection system.
  • Exceptional professional and clear communication, both written and verbal.
  • Acute attention to details and deadlines and excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Critical thinking to anticipate and recognize potential risks and/or trouble shoot.
  • Strong investigative, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional customer service skills.
  • Experience working globally.

The provided base salary range is used nationally (except in certain CA locations). The rate offered is compliant with federal/local regulations and may vary by experience, certification/education, market conditions, location, etc.
