Maintain visibility and availability to their work groups. Leads by personal example and communicates and demonstrates to employees the importance of all safety related matters (i.e., PPE usage, procedure use and adherence, professionalism, communication of hazards in the workplace, human performance tools, etc.). Leading by example also stimulates interest and participation in the safety program. Respond to all employee safety suggestions and concerns in a timely manner.


  • Do not be the highest ranking person with the knowledge of the problem. Elevate known issues to your Lead Supervisor and/or PM.
  • Ensure “Stop When Unsure” return to work criteria have been met when applicable.
  • Accountable and responsible for ensuring the highest of standards are reinforced in the field and consistently focused on maintenance fundamental practices.
  • Follow and enforce the Stop When Unsure policy from the BHI Playbook.
  • Complete at least two Critical Observations per shift and provide feedback/coaching to work crews as required.
  • Maintains status board of M&TE and/or special tools (ie Hytorq, EFCO, SRV, Diagnostic equipment
  • Provides 2 hour updates to Lead Supervisor when overseeing field work.
  • Spends majority of time in the field when crews are performing work.
  • Ensure presence in the field for any critical steps or FTQ hold points.
  • Performs daily face to face turnovers with their respective counterparts.

– Current status of all active jobs working

– Discussion of upcoming work for shift

– Any open issues (who owns action, when is expected completion)

– Written documentation of turnover per BHI playbook standards

– Review of work packages of off going shift for acceptance

– Ensure Workers are off tags/clearance orders

– Sign off/transfer of any equipment clearance orders that are currently being held

  • Current location of parts.
  • Responsible for the safety of all workers under his/her supervision, taking whatever steps necessary to assure safe working conditions. Safety must remain the highest priority at all times.
  • Knowledgeable of company and client rules and regulations, and enforces them as they apply to the respective work area. The Supervisor takes immediate action to correct any violation of BHI Energy or Customer procedures.
  • Does not perform or direct the performance of any work that he/she feels is unsafe. Work should never continue until the safety concern is addressed and corrective action has eliminated an identified hazard or violation.
  • Assign employees only to jobs that they are Qualified for and capable of accomplishing safely. Utilize all available information when assigning work including the Voluntary Disclosure of Non-Work Related Injuries” form.
  • Instruct each new and/or transferred employee on the hazards of the job or task that the employee will be assigned. Ensure that employees understand and properly follow work procedures that are established for their safety by conducting a Pre-Job Safety Brief in accordance with BHI Playbook for all persons involved with the work assignment. The Pre-Job Safety Brief should cover such topics as:

– Hazards associated with the job (preferably based on a Job Hazard Analysis)

– Protective tagging

– Wear mask as required by site expectations for Covid-19

– Work procedures involved

– Energy source controls

– Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

– How to get emergency help, 1st Aid, etc. if necessary

– Operator Experience and lessons learned

– Location of nearest phone.

  • Additional Job Safety Briefs should be held if significant changes occur during the course of the work.
  • The Pre-Job Safety Brief should be documented and maintained on file
  • Report ALL accidents, injuries and near misses to their Lead Supervisor and Project Manager and assist in any necessary evaluations or investigations
