Job Title: Staff Accountant

SUMMARY
The Staff Accountant will maintain the general ledge ensuring the accurate recording of revenues, expenditures, assets, and liabilities related to two of the company’s manufacturing facilities. The position will report to the Director of Finance & Accounting. The position will be working out of the headquarters in Annapolis, MD.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Review and prepare journal entries and /or other accounting transactions while ensuring general ledger activity is processed in accordance with GAAP and other regulatory requirements.
- Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations in a timely manner. Identify errors in posting or omissions and resolve discrepancies by applying appropriate accounting standards.
- Create and monitor a system of controls, procedures, and forms for the recording of fixed asset acquisitions and dispositions within NetSuite.
- Review and analyze income and expenditure accounts and explain variances.
- Serve as backup for payroll processing to ensure employees are paid on a timely and accurate basis.
- Work with the Chief Financial Officers and Corporate Controller to develop strong internal controls, maintain systems, and continuously improve processes and procedures.
- Interact regularly with Accounts payable, Accounts Receivable, Project Accounting groups to facilitate accounting policy and workflow to the general ledger and financial statements.
- Supports budget and forecasting activities.
- Performs other duties as required to support Accounting department.
- Assist senior financial officers as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS & EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business or related field
- Two (2) years accounting experience
- Understanding of basic principles of finance and accounting
- Experience with accounting software and online platforms
- Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office
- Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Excel
- Superb time management and organizational skills with a high attention to detail
- Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills
- Team player with ability to interact well with other employees and departments
- Ability to keep company and partner confidences.
Job Type: Contract
Pay: $60,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
