We have a number of Staff Nurse opportunities here at the Mater Hospital. The successful candidate will help to ensure that a caring, creative environment is achieved, paying attention to the highest possible quality of nursing care. The staff nurse will assess, plan, implement and evaluate care to the highest professional and ethical standards within the model of nursing care practiced in the hospital.

Our Nurses work as part of a collaborative multidisciplinary team along with Health Care Assistants, Doctors, Physiotherapists, Speech and Language Therapists, Porters, Occupational Therapists, Radiographers, Catering Staff and Administration staff.

The CV Lab is a dynamic area to work as the center of excellence in treating cardiac disease for the much of Ireland. The service opens Monday to Friday and provides, out of hours, 24hr emergency cover for patients suffering MI. We also look after patients with electro physiology EP – rhythm disturbances, and patients with structural heart issues preforming pioneering procedures, workingn with Ireland’s most experienced cardiac specialists.

Our interventional cardiologists, carry out PCI work on a daily basis, and range in specialties from congenital, to heart failure to chronic artery occlusions to pre cardiac transplant care. Nurses who are interested in a CV lab role should be detail- orientated and work well as part of a Multidisciplinary team. Cath Lab nurses should have a calm demeanor and work well under pressure in this critical care setting. As cardiology continues to evolve, and new technology’s progress, nurses who work in the CV lab have the opportunity to enjoy learning and stay on top of the latest information.
